NORTHEAST ITALY/VENETO REGION:
Venice, the queen of the Adriatic, has been attracting visitors for centuries for good reason. Museums, artwork, history, churches, hospitality...Piazza San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, Rialto, palazzos on the Grand Canal...she is a treasure box waiting to be explored. From Venice, you can easily venture outward to her neighboring islands (Lido, Murano, Burano, Torchello...) and the northeastern mainland of Italy which offers such jewels as Padova and Verona. Ferry service is available for neighbouring Croatia and the Istrian coast.
ARRIVING IN VENICE:
BA now flies direct to VCE Marco Polo from both Heathrow and Gatwick. Easyjet and BMI also fly to Marco Polo from London; Air France and Easyjet fly from Paris direct.
From the airport, you can take the vaporetto (water bus) directly in to Venice, which takes from 45 minutes. Alternately, you can take a bus/coach to Piazzale Roma (cost €3) which takes about 20-30 minutes. You can take a water taxi from the airport directly to Ca' Venexiana; this is somewhat costly but would bring you directly to the door of the apartment in under 30 minutes.
Arrival by car or bus terminates at Piazzale Roma (or train to Venice Santa Lucia) - both are a 15 minute walk to the apartment. Or, you can take the vaporetto from Piazzale Roma or Ferovia to either the San Basilio, Zattere, or Ca' Rezzonico stops. All three stops are within 10 minutes walk of Ca' Venexiana.
