Obidos, Medievel village/ caldas da Rainha:
The crown jewel of the area is the fortified medieval village of Obidos, which stands on a hilltop overlooking the lush fields nearby. Enjoy visiting a 17th century church or walk the castle ramparts. Depending on the time that you choose to visit this stunning historical town, you may encounter a different festival or cultural event which may include, chocolate festival, opera concert, Medieval Festival, Easter and Christmas celebrations. Obidos hosts many cultural events and not to be missed is the chocolate festival in February. Easter is celebrated in style with eight days of events including a torchlight procession within the castle, or if you prefer medieval week which happens in July. This traditional town recreates the past at a medieval market with authentic costumes and displays of a time long gone.
Visit the city of Caldas da Rainha and discover its many historical charms and picturesque open air market where the local farmers sell their produce to the public.

POPE BENEDICT XVI TO VISIT THE SILVER COAST!! According to the Portuguese government, Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting the Silver Coast in May 2010.
The Pope was invited to visit Portugal and to celebrate the May 13th ceremonies in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima. He will preside at the shrine's annual May 13 ceremonies. Fatima is one of the most important shrines of the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Located just 40 minutes from Foz do Arelho; this Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.
With this visit in May 2010, by Pope Benedict XVI, it will be the fifth time a Pope will be visiting the Sanctuary of Fatima. Making this site on the Silver Coast of Portugal the most visited place by a Pope! Making this years ceremonies, an excellent time to visit Fatima and make it a memorable day trip destination.
Golf:
The Silver Coast also offers 5 championship golf courses making it an excellent golfing destination. Within a 30 minute drive from apartment is the renowned Praia Del Rey 72 par golf course and Golden Eagle, in Rio Maior.
Scheduled to open in June 2008 is Bom Sucesso Golf Course.
