Great stay at La Mirage #2 in Akumal!

We stayed at La Mirage #2 for six days in August 2009 and were very pleased with the accomodations. It was exactly what we expected based on the pictures and description. The property was very clean and well-maintained, and the location is great. The owner answered our questions very promptly and thoroughly.
The condo was very comfortable for our family of four, including teenagers age 12 and 15. The air conditioning in the bedrooms worked very well. The beds are firm but we slept fine. We bought groceries at the San Francisco grocery store in Tulum (there is also an ATM there), and ate breakfasts and some lunches and dinners at the condo. The kitchen is well equipped. We are very heavy drinkers - of water - and the maid replaced the bottled water when we got low. The maid was diligent in keeping the condo clean (she cleaned daily in the morning), and folded towels in animal shapes were a nice touch.
Highlights of our trip include seeing Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza (fantastic architecture), Coba (in the jungle, and can climb the main pyramid), and Tulum (beautiful setting on the ocean)- all different and worth seeing. Tulum and Coba are easy day trips from the condo. Chichen Itza could be done as a long day trip, but we spent a night so we could explore it in the cool of the morning before the tour busses arrived.
We enjoyed swimming in cenotes, and ziplining and sky-cycling at Hidden Worlds, which is a short drive away.
We also enjoyed snorkeling. We saw many interesting fish at the reef which is 100 yards or so out from the condo. We also snorkeled in nearby Akumal Bay, in front of the Lol Ha restaurant and saw several sea turtles and a ray.
The beach at the condo is pleasant, sandy and well maintained (raked daily). There are lawn chairs (under palapas) on the beach, and there is also a hammock and chairs on the porch. There is a small but nice pool at the adjacent condos (Hacienda del Tortuga) which we used a couple times. The beach isn't very good for swimming, the water is shallow and there are lots of rocks and coral. The beaches in the nearby resort area of Akumal are better for swimming and playing in the water (but not for skorkeling).
We ate at three area restaurants: Que Onda (Italian), Lol Ha (at the resort), and the Loncheria (cheap eats by the arch). All were good.
We had a great vacation and La Mirage #2 was perfect for us. We hope to return sometime in the future!
