Spain:
Spain's `sunshine coast' is one of Europe's favourite holiday destinations, flanked by steep mountains on one side and shelving gently into the Mediterranean on the other. With an average of 320 days of blue sky annually, it is perfect as a summer holiday or as a winter destination for golfers, walkers and those wishing to pursue out -door activities.
Beyond Marbella, the steep Sierra Bermeja mountain range rises to form one of the regions most beautiful areas of deep gorges and pine forests.
Families are particularly well catered for, with myriad attractions, restaurants and of course miles of beaches. Children are not just tolerated but welcomed by the friendly Spanish people.
Despite development, the area still has the ambience of Andalucía, the most `Spanish' of all regions and you do not have to venture far from your holiday home to encounter local ferias, fiestas and romerias - the scent of Jasmine is in the air, inexpensive wine is flowing freely- come and enjoy!
Casares Costa:
To say that Casares is beautiful is an understatement. Most of the white villages are beautiful but there is something very special about the sight of Casares that causes the visitor to park the car and simply stare or take a photo.
There are the sugar cubes, piled precariously high and just nudging the battlements of an Arab castle. It is hard to believe that this enchanting, typical village is only nine miles from the hustle and bustle of the coast and somehow succeeded in avoiding the coach tour circuit.
The main fair (Feria) of Casares takes place during the first weekend in August. The day of the patron saint, the Virgen del Rosario, is celebrated in the first week in September, and in the middle of this month too is the Feria del Cristo. The most important of the Romerias takes place the last saturday in May.
Ski:
When people say that the Costa del sol has everything and ticks all the boxes they are not far wrong. picture this, within two and 1/2 hours drive you can ski in the Sierra Navada.
The ideal Agenda
Up early morning and set off to the Sierra Navada and 1/2 day pass skiing or boarding.
Finnish and visit the beach for a couple of hours and have lunch and a little sun.
Travel back to Marbella and the golf course for nine holes before you get home changed and out to the port for evening meal and party.
Exhausting / challenging but great fun.
Golf:
They say that if you stayed for a month you could golf on a different golf course every day and never travel more than 45 minutes in order to do it. you are a five minute walk to the beautiful and challenging Casares golf however here are some others. Guadalmina Golf and La Quinta Golf are located close by and overlooked by the beautiful foothills of the Ronda mountains so the property is therefore ideally located for golfing. Guadalmina is One of the original Golf courses on the coast and has two courses simply names Norte (North) & Sur (South), this scenic course is challenging, but very visitor friendly. In 2002 it was virtually rebuilt with new tees, greens and re-turfed fairways. The North course is more undulating with a lot more trees and water. The Guadalmina river runs through the course, which comes into play on several of the fairways. Also known as the Costa del Golf, there are many more courses within 2-3 kilom from the apartment.
