This restored, stone built country house is situated on the edge of a tiny hamlet on the 'Montagnola Senese', surrounded by woodland, fields and vineyards. A small, gravel road separates the house from its large garden, equipped with barbeque, table and chairs and lighting for eating 'al fresco' in the evening. A few stone steps lead from the track to the entrance of the house opening into a light and roomy kitchen which leads beyond into an ample living area with original fireplace. There are two large double bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom, a second bath/shower room and a third WC. The living area is equipped with two sofa-beds, one separated from the rest of the area by a curtain creating a third 'bedroom'. The house has been restored with great care maintaining its original features, terracotta floors and open-beamed ceilings. Its simple, tasteful Tuscan furnishing make it a comfortable and welcoming home well set up for all year around lets.

'La Senese' is located on what is known as the 'Sienese 'Mountain', centrally placed between Siena, a 20 minute drive away where the famous 'Palio' horse race is held twice a year, San Gimignano, the pretty hill top village of Casole d'Elsa, Colle di val d'Elsa, where the nearest supermarkets are and the medieval fort of Monteriggioni. Florence is a 45 minute drive north and Volterra half and hour west. The nearest beaches are an hour's drive away. The house is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, woodland and Etruscan tombs - a paradise for those seeking the tranquillity of the country yet close to the most important Tuscan towns and historical sites. There are wonderful walking routes, nearby farms and villas offering wine and olive oil tasting, and a wide choice of local restaurants. Guided walking, horse riding and cycling tours can be arranged and there are rivers within easy driving distance in which to swim. Many local towns hold festivals throughout the summer.

Guided walking, riding, cycling tours on request: We have a guide (English/French and Italian speaking) available on request who will accompany you on walking, cycling or horse riding tours of the area for a couple of hours, half a day or a full day stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. Wine and oil tasting can be arranged at local vineyards.

Yoga/Fitness: A yoga teacher and personal trainer will come to the house and organise a program by the hour or day to suit.

Children's activities: Art, collage, simple Italian language activities can be arranged to amuse your children at your holiday home.
