Nature’s lover’s secret hideaway, Birchcroft nestles at the end of a winding lane, surrounded by rhododendron bushes in over an acre of land and enjoys walks into the local woodland. This beautiful chalet bungalow offers g/floor bedrooms and bathrooms and is large enough for two families. All rooms are of a good size with a particularly large lounge. Step onto the ample terrace and enjoy breathtaking views of the local landscape, with Longham lakes in the distance. Wild life including deer, foxes, rabbits, and many species of birds are often seen in the garden. For the children there is a large rear garden laid to lawn but the boundaries are unsecured and lead directly into 19 acres of woodland. Though secluded, Birchcroft is only 5 miles from Bournemouth beaches and all the town’s facilities, has an ample supply of excellent pubs and restaurants in walking distance, as well as many well known golf courses [Parkstone, Ferndown, Isle of Purbeck]. Birchcroft nestles in 1 acre of woodlands but is only 5 miles from the golden sandy beaches of Bournemouth with cinemas, nightclubs and great shopping. Picturesque Christchurch, the New Forest, National Trust properties of Brownsea Island, Kingston Lacey, Corfe Castle and the Jurassic Coast, are all in easy distance with Adventure Wonderland, Hobby Craft and Wimborne Minster close by. The area is a golfers paradise with over 16 courses and features some very well known courses – Parkstone, Ferndown, Broadstone, Queen’s Park and Isle of Purbeck with its fantastic views of Brownsea, Poole Harbour and Bournemouth Bay. The Sailing section of the 2012 Olympics will be held in Weymouth Bay – 1 hours drive away. The Dorset area is well know for its Jurassic coast, Chesil Beach and the Swannery at Abbotsbury as well as Monkey World and the Tank Museum at Bovington – all within an easy drive.   • 1 Booking Information. To book your cottage email us at enq@dhcottages.co.uk to check availability and provisionally book. We will then email a copy of your Booking Form. Please make us aware of any special requirements at this stage. After Booking. We will then confirm your holiday in writing. Your confirmation letter will confirm your booked dates, amount owed, due date and includes important information that you should read through carefully. If you decide to cancel your holiday you will be liable for the full holiday cost.
  • 2 Cancellation Insurance. Once you have booked your holiday you are liable for the full holiday cost. We will send details with your holiday confirmation letter. If paying in full which is due eight weeks prior to your holiday we do not ask to take out cancellation insurance.
  • 3 Payment. A 40% deposit (of the cottage rental) will secure your Booking. The balance is due eight weeks prior to your holiday. Cheques, debit and credit cards are welcome. Credit cards subject to a 2.5% surcharge. Booking fee £20 (inc Vat) per week & a refundable security fee of £100 for four bed homes.

Notes: Birchcroft has a small conservatory with 4 seats from which to watch the wildlife, especially birds on the 5 bird feeders. The large raised terrace off of the lounge gives magnificent views over the valley with Dorset Lakes in the distance and some fantastic sunsets. The rear garden sweeps down to a wild flower meadow and leads to walks in the local woodlands. The front garden has a sun lounge and greenhouse as well as level lawned areas and plenty of car parking. Though the ground floor of Birchcroft is ideal for the less able with a ramp to the front door, ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms, the first floor is accessed by a paddle staircase and not suitable for the less able visitors. High-chair, cot and stair gate are available on request. Secure storage for 8 bicycles is available. Beach hut hire at Southbourne beach is available for a small fee. Please ask in advance Free Welcome Pack and Starter Pack for open fire - extra set of keys available on request.

We at BIRCHCROFT are very proud to announce that we have received both of these prestigious awards last year and now look forward to welcoming Walkers or Cyclists to our property.

Walkers: For Walkers we have boot removers and a bench to sit on at the front door as well as Ordance Survey maps of the area for your use. The wet room is very useful for hanging wet coats, over trousers and muddy boots with a special folding wall hanging rack. A First aid kit is always available. For those who prefer a gentle stroll in the immediate vicinity, the back garden has paths into the local woodlands and rights of way to the local pub where a good pub lunch is available. There is also a very pleasant walk by the nearby River Stour and one to Dorset Lakes and pictureque Hampreston Village Church.

Cyclists: For Cyclists we have a secure storage for up to 8 bicycles at no extra expense and Ordnance Survey maps of the area are available for your use. There is a bicycle repairers just 1/2 a mile away from BIRCHCROFT and we keep a puncture repair kit in a kitchen drawer in case you need it. The wet room is very handy for wet cycling over clothes and provides both a useful storage area as well as a drying area with a special folding wall hanging rack.

Golf: The area is a golfers paradise with over 16 courses and features some very well known courses: · As well as many Public courses and Driving Ranges.
