Barcelona holiday apartment

The apartment is beautiful and perfect for 2 or 3 (be careful to note size listed in description). Everything we needed was nearby and at our disposal. The beach is right there, you're so close to the center of the city, and there are bakeries and a supermarket just down the block.
Really, a spectacular place.

Two of us stayed at this apartment for 3 weeks, from June 1 to 20, 2009. The apartment was pretty much exactly as advertised. It was very clean and nicely laid out. Because we were staying for 3 weeks, the owner arranged for weekly cleaning/linen changing for us.
From the apartment, it was very easy to get around on foot or by metro. We enjoyed sightseeing all over the city, and then going back to the beach for a pitcher of sangria before making dinner. There are some good, inexpensive bars right on the beach, and there is a market plus several grocery stores really close to the apartment.
The location was quite lively--the market is just down the street, and there is an elementary school at the other end of the street, so there was quite a bit of pedestrian and motor traffic all day + night. It was generally quiet for a few hours late in the afternoon. We got woken up most nights by garbage trucks making pickups around 3am.
The kitchen was very small, and would probably be fine for very basic food preparation (breakfast, sandwiches, etc). It is kind of challenging for making more elaborate meals. Some coffee and tea and some basic cooking items (salt, sugar, spices, oil/vinegar) were kindly left for us in the kitchen.
In general the owner was easy to reach when we had a problem. It probably would have been helpful to have some instructions provided (how to get to the apartment from the airport, maybe some suggestions for nearby restaurants / shopping / internet, etc) but we figured most things out for ourselves. There was a basket of maps and Barcelona guides helpfully provided.

My husband and I arrived in Barcalona and couldn't get any money out of the cash machines due to his card being brand new. We had a little on us and when meeting Jordi he didn't mind us being a little short. The apartment was located in Barceloneta which was a really cool part of Barcelona nr the beach and about 20 mins walk away from the City ( slow walking! ). It was clean, comfortable and ideal for our 3 day stay. Even thought the area was buzzing day and night it was very quiet at sleep time which was ideal. The apartment had everything you needed apart from extra towels for the beach so bring your own. We were recommended a restaurant opposite but it was not great, bad service and 2 bottles of cortked wine! We discovered a little bar on the corner which was called Jai cai or something similar......it was the best tapas we have ever had and so cheap!!!! We loved it here and would go back.
