Hydra is a small island just off the south east coast of the Peloponnese. Hydra has many sides to it. To some it is a painter's paradise, to others it is a fashionable place to go for the weekend while others may adore its narrow streets and lanes, multitude of little, mostly pebbly places to swim, its lack of motorized vehicles, traditional way of life and miles of paths that lead all round the island making it a pleasant adventure to set off from town and see where you might end up. Paths lead up to the monastery at the top of the island making it well worth while to go to the top in order to get a bird's eye view. The island also has museums, art galleries, little churches and monasteries to discover as well as good restaurants, nice bars and water-side cafes. A little way away from Hydra Town is an organised beach where watersports are available. Take day-trips to Athens, Epidavros or one of the nearby islands such as Spetses, Poros or Aegina. The rest is for you to discover!
