Chateau 500 feet above sea level on one of the beautiful plateaux of the Massif Central, Le Plateau de Mille Vaches (The Plateau of a Thousand Cows). It is surrounded by breathtaking scenery: forests, mountains and beautiful Dordogne Valley. The chateau is full of cosy corners, fireplaces, antiques, sleigh beds, a 'Rapunzel' tower, and even a chapel with a confessional. With accommodation for up to 16 adults and 6 children, it's a perfect venue for a large group. Shared amongst a number of families or couples, this is an affordable and unforgettable holiday experience. Its grounds include a large garden, a fenced pool, fields, a stream and a small wood which afford plenty of activities for young and old alike. Enjoy cycling, boating, horse riding, tennis, canoeing on the Dordogne. For those happy to go further, there is skiing. Nearest Airport: Limoges at 90 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Brive at 35 Kilometres
Whether you walk, cycle or drive, you will without going far, experience a sense of tranquility, and space amongst the rolling hills, lakes and forests. You are more likely to come across deer, wild boar and other wildlife than traffic. Cycling is a great way to see the countryside - the chateau has some bicycles for its guests and additional bicycles can be hired locally. One of the favourite bike rides is to the Lac de Feyt. This beautiful lake is only a stone’s throw from the chateau and its beach is monitored by lifeguards. There are boats for hire, tennis courts and a small restaurant. A mere ten minutes drive from the chateau is horse riding. Further afield, pursuits include golf, hot-air ballooning, hang gliding and canoeing on the Dordogne which is just twenty minutes away. The Cahors, Bergerac and Bordeaux wine regions are also within easy reach. 1.5hrs away is the Massif Central mountain range and its ski resorts, so it is possible to drive for a day’s skiing.

  • As well as the communal living areas, there are two bedrooms and a shower room on the ground floor. The first floor consists of six bedrooms and three bathrooms which accommodate eleven people. All but one of the bedrooms are very large and many of the single beds are sleigh beds which can easily sleep two children. There are also extra camp beds if needed. All of the bathrooms have excellent showers and baths and there is always plenty of hot water. Each room has been individually decorated and furnished with antiques that have been part of the chateau for generations. All of the bedrooms enjoy superb views.
