The Granary

I stayed at The Granary during a long weekend away with my boyfriend and some friends at the end of last year.
We were lucky enough to have snow during our stay, and the scenery was breathtaking - definitely what we signed up for!
The Granary was more comfortable, really beautifully decorated and finished (to a much, much higher standard than I would have expected of a holiday cottage), and we were able to not only use it as a great base for trips out in the nearby countryside, but we also enjoyed a couple of super nights in.
It's very well equipped with everything you could need, from pots, pans, glasses and mugs, to board games, DVDs and books (including books and loads of information on the local area), there really is everything you could need there!
We had some great nights out at local establishments (all recommended in the visitor's book / local information guides), and we did some really great walks in the nearby countryside and activities including horse riding. You are literally right on the doorstep of beautiful landscape and scenery, and there is so much to do and experience!
Highlights for me would include horse riding, a boat trip around Lake Windemere (somehwere I had always wanted to visit), a gorgeous breakfast and wander round the shops in nearby Ambleside (where we bought some fantastic local produce!), drinks and a meal at The Drunken Duck bar and restaurant in Ambleside, and walks through the beautiful countryside.
The house was spotless, comfortable and excellently well-maintained.
I really couldn't recommend The Granary more highly, and I hope to go back very soon!
