Gers holiday cottage: Caupenne d Armagnac

We stayed in Swallow Cottage in July/August 2008. My wife found the cottage after a long internet search and this looked to be ideal for us and our 2 children (aged 12 and 14). We flew down to Pau airport and booked a hire car that we used throughout our 2 week stay. A car is a must and we also used a SatNav for the first time and that was very useful too! We had a wonderful couple of weeks and the weather was superb. The pool area that Rob and Kate have made is wonderful and it was just behind the cottage. We had several days out and about and the highlight for us was probably the Jazz Festival at Marciac which is about a half hour drive away. I also went gliding at the nearby airstrip at Nogaro which is right next to a race circuit. Their is usually something going on at the circuit, either cars or bikes and we went along one day to see a classic bike race and then a sidecar race. We also had a wander around the pit area one day when there were several teams testing there. When we stayed in the cottage, there were 2 families staying in the main house and they had driven down from Belgium. We spent several evenings together having a drink in the little bar area between the two properties. Rob and Kate are wonderful hosts and nothing would be too much trouble for them. We would love to return someday soon and would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday property to a friend.
