The chateau is perfectly located for visiting all of the Loire Valley historic chateaux. Blois with its beautiful Chateau and the Maison de la Magie is 15 minutes drive away through gorgeous national forests. The other famous Loire Valley historic chateaux like Chateau Chambord, Chateau Cheverney, Chateau Chenonceau, Chateau Beauregard, Chateau Amboise, Chateau Close Luc (Leonardo da Vinci's private chateau, park and museum), Chateau Villandry with its famous gardens, Chateau Azzay-le-Rideau, and Chateau Chaumont with its international summer garden festival, are all a 30 to 45 minute drive from the chateau. You can also visit many different vineyards to sample the acclaimed local wine.
There are a handful of Michelin starred restaurants nearby and a huge choice of local french restaurants and bistros to try. The well-maintained and picture perfect town of Blois is well worth a visit, as are its boutiques. Herbault four minutes away has a little market on Monday mornings.
