This is a brand new penthouse apartment with direct lift access into the living room. It has been furnished in a contemporary style with high quality fitments and furnishings. There are two terraces one of which is exceptionally large with panoramic views of the countryside and Alora´s Moorish Castle which is perched on top of a hill and looks particularly spectacular at night when illuminated. Alora is a traditional Andalucian whitewashed village sitting on top of the hills of El Hacho which is 400 metres above sea level. As well as being able to soak in the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish working village, with its narrow, winding, cobbled streets and local shops, you will find a wide variety of restaurants and tapas bars. Alora is very popular with walkers, climbers and watersports enthusiasts as it is only 12 km from the beautiful lakes of El Chorro. It has excellent communication links with Malaga, Antequerra, Ronda, the airport and the Costa del Sol.

Alora has abundance of beautiful scenery and memorable landscapes whichever direction you look. In specific terms, to the north is the Central Limestone Arch with enormously impressive ranges like to Sierra de Huma (1,191 metres) and the Pass of Los Gaitanes. To the west is the Sierrad de Aguas (949 metres). It has excellent communication links with the City of Malaga, El Chorro, Antequera, Ronda, Torcal National Park, Seville, Cordoba and Madrid. To go to the nearest beach, Malaga or Torremolinos, is just 30 minutes away.

The heart of Andalucia

The 3 of us spent a fantastic 2 weeks in this beautiful penthouse in Alora.
The apartment was even more that we could expect, starting with the generous welcome pack and finishing with the two amazing terraces - honestly, none of the pictures on the website gives spectacular views the justice. Many of the things we bought especially for this holiday were already in the apartment (maps, guides, adapters etc.).
Being perfectly located on the map of Andalucia, Alora is an ideal place to start a trip to Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, Gibraltar etc. - everything within a 2 hour drive max. But still - the evening on the terrace is a highlight of every exciting day. Everything about the apartment is great and Alora is a proper spanish white town without a tourist lurking from behind each corner, the people are nice and helpful, the morning shopping is just a pleasure.

Highly, highly recommended!

PS The great help and effort from Helen and Steve to investigate, find and post my wife's handbag lost on the last day of our holiday is something worth an additional star to the overall rating.

Owner's Response: We did not do a lot, really. On their last night (Saturday), the wife realised that her handbag was missing, she must have left it at the grocery but by that time it was already closed and they were flying back to UK Sunday early morning. They emailed me from Edinburgh telling me that Ewelina's handbag is missing and it contains their NHS cards, their 2 mobile phones, driving license etc. When I went to the grocery first thing Monday morning I asked the check out lady if they found a handbag last Friday. She told me to wait and she will call her boss. Minutes later, the proprietress dangled the handbag in front of me, to my relief. Apparently a shopper found it by the fruit and veg section and handed it to her. This is what is so beautiful living in a crime free town like Alora, people are so honest and the old fashion family value thrives. I gave the proprietress a big hug and gave my thanks and stressed to her that retriving the handbag will save the owner a lot of hassle and proceeded to the post office.

We absolutely loved this apartment. It was so well kitted out with everything one could think of so we had no boring shopping to do for dishwasher tablets and loo rolls as is the usual in most holiay lets.

The property is in such a lovely setting with two terraces with marvelous views which gave us such feeelings of well being that we had smiley faces for days.
I will definitely come to this penthouse again and will also come for autumn/winter breaks as the area has an abundance of places to go walking for hours which I did not get to do as I was only here for one week at the beginning of August.

We used the local swimming pool which I would recommend. Even the local supermarket is a "must see" with gorgeous things to buy. We went by train to Malaga and to Cordoba. Malaga has gorgeous shops, restaurants, the beach and sherry bars. The trains go all along the coast so you could stay here for a month and there would always be plenty to go and see.

The restaurants locally are wonderful, eating out is never disapponting in Alora.

Ardales nearby has a lake where we swam, got a boat out and went to El Kiosko resaurant for a divine lunch. I would recommend trying as much as you can of the menu as it might be along before you will taste such good food.

This property is very good value for money, the owners are immensely kind so thank you Helen and Stephen, we will be back and would not hesitate to recommend it.

A holiday and apartment to remember

What a wonderful apartment, with everything you could possibly wish for. The setting was lovely and you got the real feel of Spain as you walked around the town. Views were absolutely beautiful particularly in the early morning and evening. Ideal place to touring, which is what we did, Granada and Cordoba were breathtaking. We can highly recommend this apartment, it is finished to a very high specification and the owners were very welcoming with lots of advise on what to do, where to go and most importantly where to eat.

Superb holiday apartment

We had a fantastic time in this superb apartment in the middle of a genuine old spanish town. Helen and Steve act as 'hosts', and nothing is too much trouble for them. The apartment was wonderful for relaxing in, and was also a splendid springboard for exploring a really lovely area - we especially loved visiting Granada and Ronda. Being in the middle of a 'real' town takes a lot of beating!

Beautiful apartment in perfect location

4 of us stayed in this amazing property in February. We chose Alora because the location suited us as being reasonably driveable for day-trips to Granada and Gibraltar (long but do-able) while also being in an area with mountains, national parks, and near Malaga. Alora turned out tobe much nicer than I expected. Excellent bars and restaurants and many local sights. Just walking around town was delightful.

The apratment was staggeringly nice. All of us said "wow" several times as we looked around. Two nice bedrooms (master with individual climate control), nice sized kitchen area, comfortable furniture, huge TV for unwinding after long days in the sun, and a spectacular balcony with beautiful views. We also loved the dining area which can be opened up to the outside air or closed off as needed.

For us, the best single feature was the lift that goes directly into the apartment. (Don't worry; it's only if you have the key!) My parents are getting on but didn't have to deal with stairs at the end of the day. The only drawback is the parking. It has parking, which is a huge plus, but driving in the "pubela blancas" is mildly terrifying and backing out was interesting. Fortuantely, there is free public parking a short walk away. I would drop people off and then zip back and park. Painless! If you do want to park a car in the garage, make sure it's a small one. However, if you're a motorcyclist, this would be perfect as there are amazing roads in the area to ride during the day and locking up the bikes at night would be trivial.

I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a 2BR property (and it is surprisingly suitable for people with limited mobility). I would, however, strongly suggest you let the owners meet you at the airport so you can follow them from Malaga. It's a bit tricky to find the first time if you don't know the area. After that, getting around is very easy. (There's also limited train service to Alora from Malaga if you don't want to drive at all.)
