Borgo Vitignano is a delightful 17th century farming hamlet in Chianti Senese. Being Vitignano a working farm producing Chianti wine and Olive Oil, it also hosts the family residence, the farmers' homes and is inhabited throughout the year. The independent apartments develop around a welcoming terrace equipped with tables and chairs for outdoors eating in a discreet part of the borgo. Opposite is a rustic area equipped with BBQ. The public swimming pool is only 500 mts from the house down a typically Tuscan Cypress Tree lined path. You will be warmly welcomed by friendly hosting family, and you'll have a chance to pick your own juicy tomatoes from the garden. A holiday at Vitignano is a true retreat in the Tuscan countryside, where the pace of life takes you back to times past. It is an ideal place for relaxing, and being less than an hour away from the major Tuscan art cities it is also an ideal base for sightseeing. Wine tasting tours and walking can be organised on request.

Bordone takes its name from the walking stick used by pilgrims in ancient times - a symbol of divine protection but also a practical aid for walking and defending against animals. Bordone is the smallest unit at Vitignano.The apartment is on the ground floorand is made up of a kitchen/dining area, a lovely lounge with fireplace, a double bedroom, a bathroom and a shared terrace with outdoors eating and cooking facilities.

Borgo Vitignano is an ancient hamlet just outside Siena, the best preserved medieval town of Italy, whose community retains its ancient traditions. A perfect location to relax and visit art cities like Florence, San Gimignano, Pienza, Volterra, the leaning tower of Pisa. Tuscany is the land of Art and Culture, home to Leonardo, Galileo, Michelangelo whose homes, museums and masterpieces you'll be able to admire on a day trip from Borgo Vitignano. Il Palio di Siena, a thrilling traditional horserace, takes place in the centre of Siena every year in July and August. Tuscany is also famous for its red wines. On a day trip you can visit Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Scansano and why not Bolgheri. For those of you who love unspoilt nature, Maremma is but an hour away. The gorgeous Mediterranean coast is only 70 km away, with Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, Follonica, La Carbonaia. Perugia in Umbria is only 110 kms away.

MY hols in this beutiful cottage was very memorable; had such pleasurable and peaceful time; the owners were helpful reg finding yourself round this area and I generally felt as if I went from home to home;
can easi;y recommend it to everyone!

The appartment is very nice, clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is well equipped so that you can easily cook for a family (4 persons). The owner is very friendly and gave good advice regarding shops, restaurants or attractions.
A perfect area for cycling, running or moto-cycling. There are nice places to discover.

Nice accommodation, no amenities, not for families

these holiday cottages are newly furnished but are located on a working farm, so if you are a late riser, then this is not the place for a 'rest'. the tractors with the barking dogs begin at 5am. the website advertises a swimming pool, beware the 'pool' is the public swimming pool about 1km walk from the cottage and you get one free pass only. the photos show bbq area and terrace, this is shared with residents and there wasn't a bbq for use. the views on the website cannot be seen as the cottages are adjacent to the farm buildings which blocks all views. And the owner does not respect your privacy and walks into the properties without warning, something I did not like for myself or my daughter.
Owner's Response: The units at Borgo Vitignano share a terrace equipped with tables, chairs and umbrellas. The BBQ is placed just opposite the terrace.
There is no view from the terrace, however the farmhouse is in the countryside. About the pool, please note it is the public village pool. We offer a free ticket to the pool per person per holiday, as specified upon booking.
The houses are advertised as being on a working farm, please consider that this means having machinery being operated and animals around!
