The house is set in its own enclosed garden, not overlooked- plenty of space for outdoor living. The decor is modern- fully fitted kitchen and satellite TV installed. The village is on the local bus route, & the train from Argelès connects you to all major cities. The medieval village centre has shops, bars and restaurants (including a supermarket, bakers, a butcher, a chemist and a take-away pizza bar) with a large supermarket just outside. Whether you want to hide away for rest & recuperation- or get stuck into the outdoors, arts & culture, you get the best of both worlds: easy access to beaches, restaurants, hypermarkets and resort activities,whilst Laroque itself is more laid-back - with local restaurants, winerys, markets, cycling, hiking and local activities. The Alberes are a natural frontier between France & Spain being the foothills of the Pyrenees. Laroque des Albères is a medieval village situated in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Along the coast there are several resorts with promenades and long sandy beaches and the village is only 10km from the nearest (Argelès Plage and Le Racou), and 17km from the picturesque old port of Collioure. The immediate area provides excellent walking and cycling, especially in the Albères hills above the village, where there are rock pools and waterfalls. There are local supermarkets with larger hypermarkets in Argeles and the city of Perpignan 24 Km away. Spain is within easy reach, and the famous Dali museum is only 40 mins away in Figueras. For golfers there are courses in St.Cyprien on the coast and at Torremirona and Peralada near Figueres in Spain. Perpignan airport (Ryanair, Flybe, BMI) is about 40 minutes, Girona (Ryanair) about 1 hr, Carcassone and Balcelona 2 hrs by autoroute

Notes: The house has one bedroom with a double bed and the second bedroom has both a double and a single bed (which can be stored away if not required). The large bright living room has two sofas which can be converted to beds if required, and a dining table with seating for 8. There is a TV with satellite giving all the usual UK channels, DVD player and stereo system. The living room has double doors to a sun room at the rear leading to the garden and can be used for dining or as an additional sitting area. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, eye-level oven, fridge/freezer microwave etc. and has double doors to the front terrace which is ideal for al-fesco dining in the sunshine. There is an attached garage with ample storage where the washing machine, and an additional fridge are located. There are 2 adult mountain bikes (with helmets) and you will find outdoor dining table and chairs, garden and beach loungers and chairs and games/boards etc

Linen & Towels: Linen and Towels are not provided by owner. But- A linen and/or towels service can be provided by a local provider. The fee for towels/linens is paid directly to the provider in euros. 12 euros per double bed, 9 euros per single, 9 euros per towel set. (1 shower towel, 2 hand towels). On agreement of the rental, if you require this service, the details of this local contact will be forwarded for you to make contact and arrangements. The house is suitable for elderly and young in that there are no stairs or steep climbs.

The Village...: Laroque village is very welcoming. The village restaurants facilitate all family sizes and you can chose from a range of budgets. There are local chemist, bakeries, newsagents, a post office and ATM. There is a large Champion supermarket just outside the village. Pop into the Laroque tourist office to see all that is available in the region. This is a great area- truly something for everyone. Remember renting self-catering enables you to take advantage of the fantastic array of fresh local produce in the area!! Fish, vegetables, fruits and of course wines all waiting to be sampled. Time to try out those recipes which don't seem right in a dreary day in December!

It's a lovely, well-equipped, clean, comfortable home. We spent one week, but could have stayed longer. It is, indeed, walking distance to the charming village, but in a very quiet neighborhood. It's easily accessible to a variety of other places in the region. We would definitely recommend the house and hope to return.

What a great summer holiday

We really enjoyed staying at this house. It is in a fantastic village with good bars, a few resturants and other shops including bakery, pharmacy etc. While we were there there were several events in the village all free and outdoors, live bands, circus, disco and a carnival. About 6 kms away there is a great lake in the village of St Jean (near Boulou). It is really safe for children to swim in, with pedalos and a zip wire (which you had to pay for). You can also cycle from the house to the beach at Argeles which is about 9km. It's a lovely cycle through quiet villages. Near La rocque there are several villages that had good resturants, vineyards and summer time entertainment that the children really enjoyed. The house has ample space for a family of up to 6 people. It is well equipped with bicycles, beach equipment and bbq etc. The kitchen is also well equipped and we did a lot of cooking, as the local produce was fantastic. It was particularly nice to eat outside under the olive tree! Spain in only 4km away, beaches throughout the region were great, we travelled from the UK by car and found the house and location easily. I would highly recommend this house and this area for a holiday in the south of France.

Great place with a lot of possibilities.

We stayed here for 2 weeks primo July 09. The house is situated in a cosy and quit area and we drew dirctly to it from Copenhagen due to the very well description.
The house is very well equipped with all necessary needs installed. We had good use of the two bikes included. You'll find the house nice and clean and very spacy too. Larouque is a nice and quit town with lots of charm and good local restaurants that one must visit.
We enjoyed the nearby beaches and took trips into the mountains where you have possibilities for Cave expeditions and River rafting among lots of other thing. Also Spain is just around the corner and a visit to Figueres and the Salvador Dali museum is worth while.
This place is absolutly a good spot for a relaxing vacation or for one with needs for activity.

Perfect house & location.

Stay here for one week early Sept '08 & had the perfect holiday. The directions & accessibility were very well explained & house was easy to find. It is very private with a beautiful garden & plenty of space to spend time outside.

From breakfast on the front terrace in the sunshine to lunch in the sunroom (great protection from the midday sun) overlooking the lovely garden which is perfect for chilling out with a good book then relaxing in the evening in the spacious lounge, I could not fault anything.

The bedrooms are modern,spacious & very clean.This house is very well equipped with everything you need.
It is only a short drive to a lovely uncrowded beach & the charming town of Collioure. Local village only 2 mins walk & has all you might need.Lovely drives & walks in the area & very good restaurants at reasonalbe prices. Shopping in Perpignan is excellent.
I hope to stay here again this year & visit more of the area.
