Straddling a ridge overlooking the coastline, tucked away at the end of a long access road, the cottages offer all one expects for a romantic get-away: peace, comfort, wood-burning fire places, beautiful countryside, long beaches for even longer walks, cosy eating places and watering holes nearby. Winter is a wonderful season in Southern Portugal. The quinta is green, the air ethereal, the world diaphanous. Nights can be chilly, so beds have electric blankets, baths a plentiful supply of hot water, rooms solar powered radiators and wood-burning stoves. Yet the midday sun has plenty of power and most of the time beckons for an “al fresco” lunch or even a sunbath to improve your winter tan. The Cottages are part of an old quinta, a word that came to us from Roman times. The knotty olive trees testify of the past in an unspoiled landscape. Today the quinta is left with only 30 acres of land, still enough to ensure your privacy and tranquility. (Same property advertised under #400917)

The oldest part of Monte Serra, rebuilt once again some 250 years ago.... The worn stone troughs, the floor planking, the wooden beams keeping up the roof and the huge oval window placed way up in the wall, all testify of the past when this was a shelter for sheep and mules. Today, almost all year round the Algarve sun beckons for breakfast or an 'al fresco' lunch on the East facing terrace with its lovely view of the hills and the ocean. Cooking, dining and dolce farniente areas are part of a huge open plan space. On the mezzanine the master suite is enlivened by coloured glass windows and come spring, a tall oleander whose flowers are set afire by the morning sun. And if there are also small children, they’ll have a secret passage to their private den behind the staircase. What to do? Go for a nearby track for walking or biking, one of the many famous golf courses, a medieval castle, a drive along the scenic Guadiana riverbanks, a boat tour to see the fascinating wildlife of the Ria Formosa bird sanctuary or the old town of Tavira where country cooking or more sophisticated recipes are served at very palatable prices. You are just 7 km north of Fuzeta and from this fishermen village a launch will take you across the lagoon to the lovely Armona island for a long walk on its endless beach. At 2 km, Angela's small yet well stocked mini-market has fresh bread in the morning and most of the daily necessities on the shelves. Ask her to arrange a home made ice cream cake or a free range cockerel for the pot. On Sundays enjoy the have-it-all gypsy market: from socks to donkeys, from cheese to fruit trees, from BBQ lunch to riding boots. See Monte Serra on Google Earth 37º7 26''N and 7º44'45''W.   • ALWAYS ASK FOR SPECIAL OFFERS!
    The RENTAL BASIS is two people having the entire accommodation at their disposal yet using one bedroom only. The charges for using the second baedroom vary from €uro 21o-420 per week.
    The RATES INCLUDE water, electricity and gas; cleaning after departure; change of bed linen once a week; change of towels twice a week; heating during the colder periods in winter and firewood for stoves and fireplaces available from the stockpile; baby cots and high chairs; use of swimming pool and access to grounds and citrus groves.
    Not included are beach towels, laundry, maid service, additional beds, babysitting, bikes, etc. which can eventually be provided by arrangement.
    Some applicable extra charges: A/C 35/week; extra bed 70-105/week, washing M/C 3/turn, bikes 25/week.
    Guests may be requested to pay a security deposit.
  • ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE.
    The accommodation will be available from 16:00 hrs on the day of arrival till 10:00 hrs on the day of departure. A half day up to a full day rent may be charged if the accommodation is to be made available before 16:00/12:00 hrs on the day of arrival or after 10:00/14:00 hrs on the day of departure, provided such arrangements are possible.
  • BOOKINGS, payments and cancellations by Client.
    A non refundable down payment of 25% of the rent will be required at the time of booking as a confirmation of the same with the remaining 75% being payable not later than 12 weeks before arrival date. Failure to pay timely the full balance will be considered a cancellation by Client. Following reimbursement schedule will apply in case of cancellation:
    - 83 to 56 days before arrival date: 50%
    - 55 to 28 days before arrival date: 25%
    - less than 28 days before arrival date: 10% of the total rent.
