Photos and Description of this Lisbon holiday apartment Between Baixa and Castelo in the heart of Lisbon

Our apartments are located in Castelo only a short distance from the Sao Cristovao church. A few steps away from Rossio and Baixa. The apartment is equipped with a kitchenette (oven, refrigerator, cooker and washing machine) and has room for up to 4 people. It has a living-room (with sofa bed), a bathroom and one bedroom (double bed). The house was completely renovated in 2008, but preserving its original characteristics and its tiled front. Nearby you can find little stores, cafés, restaurants and a pharmacy. Our guests will receive all the important information to make their stay as interesting as possible. Castelo is one of the oldest parts of Lisbon, offering interesting architectural and cultural sites. Fado has its origins in nearby Alfama and there are several restaurants serving typical food to the sound of live Fado.

Walking through the narrow streets, the visitor can easily imagine former times. The 'Baixa' has all the major stores and very small and typical speciality shops. The Tram, Bus, Metro and Railway are all very near the apartment. The main attractions of Lisbon are in this area Rossio, Castelo, Praca do Comercio, Avenida da Liberdade, Elevador de Santa Justa, Elevador da Gloria, Igreja do Carmo, Chiado, Bairro Alto, Alfama, etc.

Nice and cosy apartment in lively neighbourhood

We enjoyed three nights in this comfortable apartment in downtown Alfama. We loved the apartment and the neighbourhood, it's nothing fancy but very lively (quite during the night!) with a mixed population and we really felt being part of Lisbon. Castelo de São Jorge, Bairro Alto and Baixa are just around the corner.

The apartment is in exact the same state as shown on the pictures, well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom, nicely decorated. I remember reading that there is a bathtub but there is in fact a shower. We travelled with a four month old baby and the owner provided us with a cot, a babybath and baby cutlery etc.

One remark: the sleeping room is kind of humid.

Really good value for money, reliable owners.

Great Apartment

We stayed in the apartment in September 2009 and had a really enjoyable time. The apartment was clean and recently refurbished and looked exactly as in the photos. The bedroom was spacious. The shower was excellent with unlimited hot water. The sofa bed was also worked as a full size comfortable double bed.

We were met by the owners at the property on arrival. The provision of chilled water, a small bottle of local liqueur and some kitchen basics - tea, coffee, pasta was a really nice extra touch. The location was really convenient to Rossio (the city centre) being about a 2 minute walk down the stepped alley. The steps would be the only issue for prospective visitors but steps are a feature of much of Lisbon.

Be sure to check out the rooftop Terraço bar around the corner with its stunning views and comfy beanbags and sofas. Also the short walk to Graça or tram ride(28) is a fantastic place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down over a beautiful city.

Would definitely recommend to a friend.

The apartement was in the exact same condition as described and as it can be seen on the fotos. Everything was clean and in perfect condition. The apartement is very central, the next subway stations are roughly a 10 minutes walk away. Pitoresque Alfama is right around the corner, so is Baixa. All other important sights can be reached by bus or subway in a short time
The owner was always available via phone (though we only needed it once).
Since the area around the apartemnt is a little "hilly", you shouldn't have any major knee or foot problems...
Otherwise, I can heartily recommend this tidy and well-conditioned apartement to basically anyone!

Fresh, clean, modern.

The appartment was brand new, extremely fresh and clean. There were all the facilities we needed. It was easy to find. From Lisbon airport we took a bus to Rossio square and it was just a 10 minute walk. It is a bit of a climb, but the whole of Lisbon is very hilly. The owner met us with the key. Customer service was excellent, really friendly, personal service. We were provided with maps and lots of local reccommedations. The location is close to the Castelo, Alfama, Baixia and close to tube and train stations. We enjoyed day trips to Belem, Sintra and Oriente. I would return to this appartment on my next visit.
