Photos and Description of this Sintra holiday house Ideally located next to Penha Longa Golf, between the sea and hills of Sintra.

This is a traditional family house, ideal to discover the history and style of Portugal. Part of the Penha Longa estate for centuries (now world class golf course), it enjoys a fabulous location on the edge of Sintra national park. Moreover, with a large terrace and private pool overlooking natural forest it is an ideal place to relax. The house has many typical Portuguese features including tiles (azuljedos) and window seats (namoradeiras). It has a large tiled kitchen and adjoining breakfast room with windows to the garden. The family coat of arms lies proudly above the dining room fire place. The lounge has a beautifully decorated ceiling and adjoining study and snooker room. Outside there is large terrace with a round ‘lazy Susan’ table and BBQ. The swimming pool is very large (16x6m) and is graded to allow enjoyment by all the family. Gardens at the front and back ensure the property receives sun throughout the day. The house has a secure gate and yard with room for several cars.

Wander through the quaint streets of Sintra’s old town, visit the Moorish sites or relax in the romantic gardens of Monserrat palace. Sintra is positioned overlooking a vast area around Lisbon, a likely residence for kings and queens. Drive down to the coast and you will find unspoilt beaches, including Guincho which is famous for surfing, or the unexplored Adraga. Finally, just a short distance from the house is Portugal’s capital city of Lisbon, which provides for a great day out, knowing that you can return in the evening to the relaxing gardens of Casa de São Marçal.

In addition to the 18 hole Atlantic championship course, there is also a nine hole course, ideal for a half day or summer evening. In addition to Penha Longa there are several other top golf courses nearby including Quinta da Marinha (8km), Beloura (2km) and Estoril (2km).
