A five-bedroom moorland village holiday let with open fires

This country house is ideal for families looking for a relaxing break in a secluded Yorkshire village, with its large garden and modern facilities. It is also ideal for a walking holiday, being a moorland location and only a short distance from Whitby. Within walking distance from the house are the village inn and bakery, and village train station with services to Whitby. Also nearby are restaurants, tea-rooms, and a National Moors Centre.

Brackenedge is new to the holiday cottage market for 2009 and offers beautiful, fresh facilities. The house comfortably sleeps 8-11 with ample living, dining, and bathroom accommodation. There is a wonderful garden ideal for children and adults alike, with outdoor dining facilities and great moorland views.

All in all this property offers an ideal opportunity for a North Yorkshire Moors holiday in high quality facilities.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Linen and towels are provided, and heating and electricity costs are included. We ask for a 20% deposit with booking, and the full balance is payable 6 weeks before your stay. We also ask for a £100 deposit for property damage, which is fully refundable at the end of your stay provided no damage has been caused.
  • Let is usually Saturday to Saturday. Discounts may be available for 2-4 people staying in low season - please ask. We may also be able to offer short breaks depending on availability.

We thoroughly enjoyed our wonderful stay. The wedding went very well,rain cleared at 4pm and the Dales looked beautiful in the evening sun. The house was great, we had everything we could think of. All 10 adults and the two wee girls fitted in well and it was lovely to have all our family with us for some of the following week. We visited so many beautiful little villages, seaside resorts and I even went swimming in the breakers at Saltburn by the sea. When we were sitting on the decking we saw a 'tornado' - a funnel cloud which lasted for 30 mins or so - very exciting!

A very well appointed house - fantastic for large groups - space for everyone. Garage great for storing wellies and fishing gear.

This house is massive. It's hard to believe when looking at the pictures on the website but out party consisted of 6 adults and 6 children and at NO time did I feel as though we were on top of each other. All of the rooms are really spacious and the Garden was great for the both kids activities and adult relaxation, not at the same time though.

The property was really clean and well maintained, the facilities were excellent with large plasma tv's in all communal rooms. I would have no hesitation recommending this property to either families with young children or groups of adults. My party had a really good time and will be looking to book again for next year.

An excellent large property in a lovely location

We booked Brackenedge on very short notice, after we were let down by another property owner, but had a lovely stay. We were a large party (six adults and three children), but at no point did we feel crowded or uncomfortable.

The railway station, from which you can get to Whitby, is just a short walk away and the National Moors Centre is well worth a visit.

You take your chances with the weather in this part of the world, but the real fire makes this house a warm sanctuary on cold or wet evenings.
Recommended for:  Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

What a lovely stay

I think we were the first family to stay at this cottage. It is absolutely huge! so much space, made it very easy staying with other couples & their children. All very clean, nice linen etc., full country experience staying there with the fires and everything. Village is lovely, good pubs, and lots to do in local area. Whitby and Saltburn both very nice and easy to drive there for the day. Would definitely recommend this cottage.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
