In the summer the sea provides the sporting activities, in the winter the mountains do. It takes about an hour to reach a ski slope from Antibes. The reason Antibes is so great in the winter is because of the sea. In Winter, Antibes has an enormous natural storage heater, the Mediterranean. What's Antibes Like?:
Antibes is perfect base from which to explore the region. This is a place where life is good, the sky is blue, the long nights are warm, restaurants welcome you. Antibes has the largest yachting harbour in Europe Port Vauban which is renowned for its ‘Millionaires' Quay’. Monet said, 'I paint the little fortified town of Antibes, made golden by the sun, with the pink and blue mountains and the Alps forever covered in snow behind. I struggle so hard to capture this sun. For what luminosity the sun here lends to the landscape.' Antibes boasts some gorgeous sandy beaches, both private and public, some argue they are the best on that stretch of the Côte d´Azur. Antibes has a variety of restaurants, cafés, theatres, piano bars and private clubs to chose from. Tall houses, narrow paved streets, the fragrance of flowers in the air, this is old Antibes. Antipolis was the ancient Greek city which evolved to become Antibes - on each street you can find remains of this rich past.
Ski:
From the coast, you can discover at a glance the balcony of the Cote d’Azur with 465 peaks towering at 2,000 meter above seal level, six of them exceeding 3,000 meter.
