The outside of each apartment offers a well kept garden, a lovely patio with table, chairs and BBQ for outside eating and relaxing. An above ground swimming pool sits at a discreet distance from the country homes. La Chiusa luxury country homes are an ideal base for taking both short and long breaks. Iits key position, only 5 minutes drive from Siena, allow guests to enjoy all the fascinating city has to offer without giving up on peace and privacy only a country home can guarantee. A break at La Chiusa is ideal for taking a language course, enjoying the Palio of Siena, taking wine tasting tours, all of which we can organize for you.

Porcilaia, whose name means pigsty, was converted from the original pigsty of Borgo la Chiusa, part of an ancient convent. The house sits on the left corner of the property and is accessed from a welcoming terraced patio at the front of the house. Porcilaia is endowed with a large open living area, cleverly organised to fit a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a modern kitchen and dining area. The back of the house hosts a double and a twin bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The front terrace is equipped with table, chairs, loungers, BBQ and umbrellas. Off the garden sists an independnet studio with double bed, kitchenette and bathroom.

Tuscany is the land of Art and Culture, home to Leonardo, Galileo, Michelangelo whose homes, museums and masterpieces you'll be able to admire on a day trip from Borgo Vitignano. Il Palio di Siena, a thrilling traditional horserace, takes place in the centre of Siena every year in July and August. Tuscany is also famous for its red wines. On a day trip you can visit Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Scansano and why not Bolgheri. For those of you who love unspoilt nature, Maremma is but an hour away. The gorgeous Mediterranean coast is only 70 km away, with Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, Follonica, La Carbonaia. Perugia in Umbria is only 110 kms away.

This was a perfect place to stay close to Sienna but with the peace of the countryside. The owners were very helpful giving google earth maps to the local supermarket and the house itself was spotless and very well equipped. The surroundings are picture postcard beautiful. The house is well situated to the motorway making it easy to get around. Close to the COOP supermarket was a great restaurant, called the green Frog(?) great food and good value also an ice-cream parlour just across the road. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending La Chiusa. just one question does Tuscany have more stars or is just a bit closer to heaven and therefore easier to see them!
