Out and about in Corralejo:
Corralejo is the largest resort on the island and is a 30 minute drive from the airport. On the drive up you will pass through the Las Dunas National Park, you can’t help but be amazed by the miles of golden sands. This area is popular with sun bathers and water sport fans and you will see the kite surfers from the road. Within Corralejo you will find the Baku Park which is home to a large mini golf, the Animal Experience where you can swim with a Sealion, Water Park and the twice weekly market where you can buy local crafts, African Art and some really nice jewellery. There are a wide variety of bars and restaurants in Corralejo catering to all tastes including tapas, seafood, Chinese, Indian, steak or even fish and chips! There are plenty of bars offering entertainment including live music, magicians, bird shows, quizzes and bingo.
Shopping in Fuerteventura:
There are some good shops in Corralejo offering local crafts, sports wear and jewellery. The El Campanario Shopping centre is a five minute walk from Las Dunas and is a really nice way to spend an hour or so. It is designed to look like a traditional Spanish village and is home to a variety of shops and bars. On a Sunday morning there is a small market with stalls selling crafts, home made cakes and local delicacies. For serious shoppers a trip to Las Rotundas in Puerto del Rosario is a must as this is home to a number of shops including C&A.
There are a whole load of new flights available from winter 2009/10. Easyjet are flying direct to Fuerteventura from Liverpool and Stanstead and Monarch are flying from Birmingham, Manchester and Gatwick.
You can also pick up reasonable flights to Lanzarote and then catch a free bus to Playa Blanca and then take the hourly ferry to Corralejo.
