This lovely pretty little cottage is located in a quiet, sleepy little street in the centre of Azille, one of the 17 historic villages that make up the Minervois. The cottage has been beautifully restored to keep all its charm without compromising on the needs of our guests. The dining room and open plan kitchen are located on the ground floor which leads up to the first floor sitting room. Here you can relax in one of the deep comfy sofa and chairs and enjoy reading from the small library, or watch a film. There is a curtained alcove leading off the sitting room with a delightful antique bed for children or extra guests. The light airy, and sunny principle bedroom is located on the second floor, as it the bathroom. The bedroom has a huge double bed, beautiful antique furnishings and ample storage space. As would befit a house built in the 1850´s there is a lot of character, from the original terracotta floor tiles and spiral staircase to the exposed beams and fireplaces

Azille is a pretty village in the heart of the historical Cathar region of Minervois, 30 minutes from Carcassonne and the medieval city but also perfectly located for access to Narbonne and coast only 40 minutes away. There are a restaurant, pizzaria, shops and bakery and tourist office. The famous bathing lake at Homps is only 5 minutes away and is perfect for families wanting a safe and supervised beach for their chiildren. A trip to the region would not be complete without a day trip to Carcassonne and the medieval city to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of one of France's most important histroical Castles, or a boat trip on the Canal du Midi. Ten minutes by car and you are in th footlhills of the Mountain Noire to discover the Cathar ruins of Minerve with its famous restaurants, bridge and underground rivers. The is so much to see and do that one week is hardly enough time to do justice to this wonderful region.

Cllose to a bathing and leisure lake it is perfect for families with children who want safe supervised bathing and for those wanting a value for money holiday home which is ideally located for touring, walking holidays and exploring andmany wonderful Cathar historical sites and Chateaux. Here you will feel at home from home with the quality furnishings throughout. The house is well equipped for short rentals. The light and sunny master bedroom is on the second floor as is the bathroom. On the first floor there is a sitting room with a deep curtained off alcove with a double bed, perfect for two children sharing. The ground floor is an open plan kitchen and dinning room with seating for four people. There is an oven, microwave, and washing machine. All in all, Grand Rue offers a super value holiday home for up to four people in a beautiful and unspoilt corner of France.

Azille: The town of Azille is one of the 17 historic villages of the Minervois. An ancient fortified circular town it is located in the foothills of the Montaine Noire with spectacular views across the Aude plain towards the Pyrenees and the sea. Azille is a village with all facilities. There are shops, bars, butcher and boulangerie, restaurants, pharmacy and internet cafe. At the end of April there is the famous four day bull Feria ( the festival of running with the bulls!). Azille is a fantastic location for exploring the region. Ideal for walking, hiking, cycling holidays and for visiting the many historic sites in the region. A very short drive away is Lac de Jourres, a large freshwater lake that is popular in the summer for swimming and sailing, and the canal du Midi at Homps with its many restaurants, excellent shops and wine producers.

Minervois and Carcassonne: No stay in the region would be complete without a visit to the medieval cities of Minerve and Carcassonne but the possibilities for touring locally are endless. To help our guests plan their holiday we can proved suggested itineraries and recommendations. Some of the best restaurants in the region are to be found close by and local markets are the source of wonderful locally and freshly grown food and produce. The region is famous for its wines and many local growers welcome visitors and offer wine tastings.
