Newly refurbished 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment (sleeps 5) on the first floor of traditional chalet with garage, located within walking distance of the charming train station of Schoenried and the best ski runs in the Bernese Oberland. The apartment is only 5km/10 minutes away from the center of Gstaad by car/train. The apartment boasts a large living room with sofa bed and a balcony that looks out towards the mountains. The master bedroom has a king sized bed (can be arranged as two single beds) and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has two single beds (can be arranged as a double bed) and a shower room. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. Elegantly furnished, the apartment comes with plenty of wardrobe space, wireless internet access, TV (with UK SKY channels) and DVD facilities.

The apartment is located in close proximity of Schoenried's local grocery shops, butcher, ski-school, ski-rental shop and tennis courts. The Schoenried train station is a 4 minute walk from the apartment. From this station you can easily catch the regular train into Gstaad (3 minute journey) and Geneva airport via Montreux (3 hour journey). Schönried and its neighboring village, Saanenmöser, are located on the sunniest terrace of the Gstaad region. The village offers those practicing winter sports two possibilities of access to the surrounding ski areas, cross-country trails and winter hiking routes. The Horneggli lift allows for access to the largest ski area of Gstaad Mountain Rides – Hornberg/Saanersloch/St.Stephan/Rinderberg – an area with 120 kilometers of pistes

Additional information about rental rates

  • A non-refundable 25% deposit is required to confirm the reservation. The full amount is due 15 days before arrival as well as a security deposit of 1000 CHF which will be reimbursed at the end of the stay. In case of a cancellation 75% of the total rent paid will be refunded only if the property can be let again for the same period and same amount. A final cleaning and laundry charge of 100 CHF will be deducted from the security deposit together with telephone consumption and any breakages/damages.
  • Arrival is after 4pm and departure is before 10 am on change-over day.
  • Tenants should be fully insured for personal injury, theft etc. The owner declines any responsibility for recourse an insurance company may exercise against the owner in case of accidents.

Best ever luxury Chalet experience

We had a fabulous week at the Chalet Luegisland. When entering the chalet, the wonderful smell of timber makes you feel comfortable and at home straight away. The interior is simply fantastic and unexpected: great contemporary design and furniture are combined with the exposed timber of the chalet to create a unique environment.

What impressed me most were the little details: the candles, the wonderfully comfortable beds (with great fluffy duvets) and of course the large Mikado-Set were a real delight.

The chalet's location could not be better: overlooking the fantastic landscape from the large terrace was simply incredible, while the short distance to the ski-slopes made life in hard skiing boots so easy.

If you want the perfect luxury home from home in an amazing and convenient setting, then Chalet Luegisland is the perfect address. I can highly recommend it!

I spent a few of days at this flat ('Gstaad-Schoenried apartment') just after new years in early January 2009. I'm taking the time to write this review at the request of the owners. I'm happy to do so since I enjoyed my stay and believe others will likely feel the same. Clearly however, they have not vetted my comments and the opinion below is entirely my own.

Location:
The flat is just outside of Gstaad, in Schoenried, which is a beautiful little town and just a short drive to Gstaad and any of the many restaurants, etc in the area. I never tried the train link into Gstaad so have no idea of regularity etc., but heard it's quite easy. I had a car with me which I used to go out in the evenings, during the day there's parking just under the building. You can walk out the door and be on the lift within minutes, which is quite nice. On the ground floor is a restaurant - I hear the food is good, though never tried it. No noise problems from the restaurant or neighbours, etc.

Decor:
Bedroom - I slept in the main bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, a fantastic bathtub, good water pressure, etc. The bed is large and quite comfy; it is actually two beds pulled together though this was not particularly noticeable (and I suppose convenient if ppl are to double up in the room). There is plenty of closet space, etc.
Kitchen - Big enough to cook, though I didn't try (and have no idea how close is the nearest grocery.
Living room - Quite nice and feels cozy (not as in small/ cozy, but actually cozy), with a large fireplace a slanted wood ceiling.

Decor doesn't strive for an elaborate or over-the top elegance, this isn’t The Palace - rather it feels like an Alpine Lodge (albeit an apartment) in Swiss Alps, which, in my opinion, is what I'm out there for.

Owners:
In my dealings, owners were entirely trustworthy and straightforward. For what it’s worth, they seem like genuinely nice people as well. The place was as described and there were no surprises, financial or otherwise. I haven't heard anything to the contrary; though admittedly don't know anyone else who has stayed there.

Background:
I generally have quite high expectations, and drove in from Val D'isere where I spent considerably more (over New Years) at a flat which was sadly substandard in comparison. Gstaad was absolutely beautiful – compared to the Western US (Vail) or Val – this place had a ‘fairy tale’ feel, much less commercial than anywhere else I've been.

Winter Wonderland

The description is very accurate regarding the location, layout and facilities. The property is very well-maintained, clean and charming with it's own character. During my stay in this flat everything was perfect! It is easy to find, secure and everything functions perfectly (heating, water, kitchen...). My favorite features were the nice view of the slopes from the balcony and the great fireplace. The flat is very comfortable and ample, great for a small family with kids or two couples. It is very conveniently located next to a great ski and clothes shop, charming food shops, market and delicatessens and footsteps away from the ski slopes. There are excellent options for dinning in the area and its only a very short ride away from Gstaad and so many other charming little towns. I found the staff in the building to be very friendly and efficient, as was the owner who provided excellent customer service always very helpful, honest and pleasant. Overall, I can say I had a perfect stay and I have already recommended this property to friends.

Classic Swiss comfort

One of the best things about the place was the fact that unlike some ultra-modern or over-the-top chalet 'themed' places, the apartment has a totally relaxed and classic (not dated) Swiss luxury charm, from the warm wood paneled walls to oh so comfortable upholstery.

The modest kitchen continues in this charming style and is more than adequate for the few serious meals likely to be eaten-in, in a place with as many fabulous restaurants as the Gstaad area.

Many places promise ski-in/out convenience but this place really does have slopes directly behind, and a short walk in front allowing access in seconds to the snow or mountain paths in summer.

The bar on the ground-floor and (very popular)sub-basement night-club provided some of the only truly relaxed and un-stuffy night-life in this rather 'jet-set' area and managed to be convenient without causing any noise disturbance as far as I could hear, and noise is normally a pet hate of mine.

Access from Geneva is 2 hrs by car or a little more by train.

With regard to the details everything was as described, well maintained, spotlessly clean and hassle-free. Would not hesitate to recommend.
