Las Fuentes:
The townhouse has a fantastic communal infinity swimming pool, with splash pool and island which can be reached by bridge and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees. The pool overlooks the Mediterranean. Next door there is a mini golf course, which is open during peak times. If you turn left outside the complex and walk along the sea front you will come to the lighthouse. The beach here is shingle and rocks. Many people fish along this stretch of beach and there is often held fishing contests where young and old try their skills. If you turn right outside the complex the beach at Las Fuentes is within a few minutes walk away. Along this beautiful sandy beach you can play volleyball and hire bicycles. If you continue to walk along the seafront you will come to the mariner where there are excellent restaurants and cafes. It is nice to just sit and relax here and look at the beautiful yachts.
Alcossebre:
Alcossebre and Las Fuentes are set among the orange and almond groves. Alcossebre is a short walk from Las Fuentes (about 1O minutes). The walk is all flat and therefore easy for both young and old. The promenade at Alcossebre is wide and lined with palms trees with plenty of parking spaces. In Alcossebre you will find many restaurants and cafes together with supermarkets and small shops which sell local produce. Many of the small shops bake their own bread - try the local apple tarts. It is a very relaxing town and you can sit in one of the many cafes along the front and look at the Mediterranean and the beautiful wide beach of Alcossebre.
Alcossebre does not have high rise buildings and therefore has retained its character as a small Spanish town.
Around and about:
If you hire a car there are many places to see around the area. Notably the beautiful walled city of Morello where you can buy lovely knitted sweaters (you can see the looms in the back of the shops at work), the protected wetlands at Torrenova or you can go across the Valley of Angels and take in the beautiful scenery and if lucky see the Eagles and Kites. Peniscola is just a 15 minute drive away and as well as a beautiful beach, shops and restaurants there is the castle where El Cid was filmed, here there is also a bird sanctuary. Benicarlo another seaside town is just down the road from Peniscola. At both Benicarlo and Peniscola you can see the trawlers returning with their catch. Benicassim with its beautiful view, the pioneer town of Navajas and Onda with its Museum and Castles are also worth a visit.
