Would I stay here again?...Not if you paid me..
Review Submitted: July 1, 2009
Date of Stay: June 2009
We have now arrived back from our stay at Lanzac cottage and unfortunatley it didn't turn out as we would have wanted.
Our main concern we had, was the location of the house, right next door to the village hall. Quite innocent you would think? However we were slightly worried when on the the first Wednesday afternoon there was a mobile disco van parked out side and then proceeded with very loud music for a few hours.
This was nothing though compared to the following Saturday night, when from 10.30pm, literally non stop until 4.30am in the morning this very loud music continued! My parents were staying with us & I felt so bad & embarrassed that they too had to suffer this noise.
When the following Saturday evening approached, again were we worried this same sort of event may happen. And to our horror it did!! This time it was a wedding party, the really loud music commenced at 10.30pm and this time went on even longer until 5.30am! Unbelievable!!
This obviously has caused us much stress, not to mention the lack of sleep. I am 6 months pregant and hoped this holiday would be wonderful, as it is our last one before the baby is born. It was not.
We didn't want to stay somewhere with a night club next door!!
We noticed in your rules - "to respect the neighbours and not to play any loud music in the garden." This somewhat makes a mockery of them!
Other complaints (not in any particular order):
1) The house has a noisy wood sanding factory behind it.
2) The house smelt & was damp.
3) The house is located close to a busy road, traffic can be heard in the garden.
4) There was not a single plant in the "garden".
5) The swings are dangerous to children; the supports were not fixed securely; if a child fell out of a swing they wouldn't have any skin left due to the gravel ground.
6) The equipment in the kitchen was very basic.
7) There were no extras provided e.g. salt, pepper, oil etc
8) The bathroom was shoddy
9) The bath towels were not absobent & small
10) The washing machine was mouldly around the rim.
11) There was no washing basket to take clothes to the line.
12) There was a hole in the side of the house where a small door had fallen in to the roof
13) There was no boulangerie or any shops within walking distance
14) Souillac the nearest town was not especially pleasant.
Owner's Response: As owners of the Cottage we are very surprised and disappointed by this review. It is indeed unfortunate that the reviewer was not able to provide a balanced report, and failed at any stage during their stay to highlight any of their dissatisfactions with agent or to ourselves.
Our belief is that the comments in the review are exaggerated and in some instances totally fabricated.
We have contacted other clients who have stayed at the Cottage and invited them to submit a review, and it is our belief that these reviews will provide a more accurate view point.
The Salle De Fete (parish hall) is a small building within the Church grounds adjacent to the Cottage and is used on occasional basis for local parish activities. It was indeed unfortunate that these guests experienced three events during their stay. In all of our time spent holidaying in the Cottage over the past four years we have never experienced activity of this level.
We would like to state that there is no factory in the village, the property is in no way damp, traffic noise is not an issue as the cottage is set on a small rural road, property is fully fitted out with all modern conveniences/appliances, swingset is fitted in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
If this review raises any queries please contact us & we will be happy to address any concerns.
