Sunrise at Villa Mae:
Enjoy early morning at the peaceful setting of Villa Mae. Soak up the scenery and watch the swifts sweep down over the pool, collecting their breakfast. Feel the warm glow as the sun creeps up over the top of Mount Aenos that dominates the skyline. The option of a continental breakfast is easily accessible with fresh bread from the bakery at Peratata nearby. The economical option of cooking in or outdoors is also available or visit one of the many tavernas or restaurants as you venture out to explore the island.
The south facing villa captures the full sun throughout the whole day until setting and glistens on the blue sea. So whatever time of the day you choose to be around the villa you can benefit from the sunny climate. For those who prefer the shade, the outdoor dining area, the veranda of the second bedroom or the parasol provides cover whilst still enabling the fresh air and delightful views.
Relax at the Villa:
The pool is sufficiently large enough for the serious swimmer or a quick plunge to cool down when necessary. The steps into the pool allow a safe gradual introduction to the water and provide a useful seat for relaxation within the water. The pool is maintained to a high standard and you may meet Luke who is always friendly and helpful. If you hear the sound of gentle bells ringing it will be the goats passing by and can be seen grazing in the vicinity.
Take a circular walk around the quiet village and you will notice the pretty gardens with citrus, olive trees and pretty flowers in full bloom. The church is the focal point and there is a local choir and bell ringing. The bus stop can be found opposite if you wish to venture out without a car. Further down watch for the war memorial that has a large eagle on top. The two shops have outdoor seating areas and you can buy a cheap beer or soft drink to cool down before returning to the villa. The shop keepers are friendly and helpful.
Excellent location :
Villa Mae is an ideal location for exploring the whole of the island. The beaches around the south of the island are all within easy reach. Visit the capital Argostoli one morning for the chance to see the loggerhead turtles swimming around the fishing boats. The scenery from the harbour is stunning and tourists blend with the locals in and around the shopping areas. Argostoli is also very pleasant in the evening to visit the restaurants and bars. In addition Assos and Fiskardo are highly recommended for a visit but you will not be disappointed wherever you decide to stop as the whole of kefalonia has wall to wall scenery and it will not disappoint you.
