The historic and picturesque town of Ceret, set on the slopes of the Pyrenees in the sunniest region of France, has attracted artists for many generations. The giant plane trees tower over and provide a dapple shade to the streets and squares of the town centre. On Saturday an extensive market fills the streets of the walled town, selling a variety of fresh produce, wine, cheeses, clothes and handcrafts.Sandy beaches are just 25 minutes drive . The delightful apartment is located on a cobbled street within metres of the centre. All your daily food shopping, cafes and a variety of restaurants are within minutes of the front door.The stone building,dating from 1656, was renovated in the 1980's and converted into two two storey apartments. The apartment is well equipped with modern appliances and everything works. With a view and large terrace overlooking Les Tins valley, it is one of the few properties in Ceret to combine a town centre location with rural and mountain views.

An ensuite,also of contemporary design,with wc and basin, is located off the master bedroom. All linen, including towels, is provided for your stay and will be changed at the end of each week.Beach towels are not provided.A launderette, with directions in English,is within 75m.Ironing board and iron is provided in the utility room.Hair drier and UK adaptor lead provided.

Notes: The apartment is located within the historic town centre of Ceret, close to the shops, cafes and restaurants, the Saturday (regional) street market and the frequent 'events' that occur throughout the spring and summer. The Museum of Modern Art stages seasonal exhibitions of 20th century art in addition to the permanent Picasso exhibit. The apartment occupies two floors of a 17th century building within the historic district. A large terrace looks west across a green river valley of Les Tins towards Mount Canigou and provides a peaceful and private space with a rural view.It is an ideal base for mountain walking,with many paths leading directly from the town.In winter cross country and downhill ski areas are with 1.5 hours drive. Take advantage of lower fares for MIDWEEK travel with flights to Perpignan,Montpellier and Girona.Short breaks (4 days min are available except in high season)

Meet and Greet / Airport Collection/Parking: Our local representative will meet with you on your arrival and introduce you to Ceret and the apartment. Airport collection and return can be arranged in advance from Perpignan or Girona (Spain) Airports for an additional charge. Perpignan Airport is 24 miles (28 minutes) from Ceret and Girona Airport approximately 60 miles (1hr). Flights and car hire are usually cheaper to Girona.Spanish car rentals charge 7 euros/day for cross border use. A Public bus service to Ceret is available from Perpignan Airport (via Perpignan Centre) and by Frogbus from Girona Airport to le Boulou (then taxi). If arriving by car, Ceret is 7km from the Le Boulou exit of the A9 auto route. In Ceret, parking is available within 100 metres of the apartment at Les Tins car park.

What is provided? ?: The apartment is very well provided with all the fixtures and equipment you require for a comfortable stay. This includes a well equiped kitchen, insulated picnic box,picnic plates and cutlery,shopping basket. All linen,including towels, will be provided. Fresh linen will be delivered after 7 days. Our guests will be asked to leave the apartment clean and tidy on departure, to allow our cleaning team to clean the apartment for the next guests.

Terms and Conditions: Terms and conditions will be emailed upon request. We require a deposit of £100 to confirm a booking with the balance of the rent due 6 weeks before the rental. A key /breakage deposit of £100 will be required for the duration of the rental and this will be returned when confirmation is received that the key has been returned and the apartment is in sound condition. For reasons of safety on the terrace, we consider the apartment is not suitable for young children.

This apartment is a rare find

Having travelled extensively in France (and all around Europe) this is amongst the top three favourite spots of my partner and I. Ceret has a magical charm that stays with you long after the holiday is finished and seeps into your dreams calling you back to its peaceful leafy cobbled streets.

The apartment itself is a rare find, unlike many holiday apartments we have stayed in, this really feels like home. We especially enjoyed having open fires in the evening and having our breakfast and dinner on the spacious terrace which overlooks well kept gardens flourishing with flowers, fruit trees and vegetables beds and also has views over the foothills of the Pyrenees (you can even see the snowy peak on Canigo Mountain)

The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and we therefore spent most evenings cooking at home using the fresh produce from the farmers market which is held each Saturday morning – I strongly advise visitors to time their stay with this weekly event!

The apartment was well cared for, tastefully decorated and incredibly cosy. It was also perfectly located for Cerets shops, cafes and restaurants and made a perfect base for us who as keen walkers were able to head straight out of the town and into the mountains.

I have already recommended this apartment to my parents for their summer break and we are hoping to visit again some-time later this year.

We loved this beautiful apartment which was very well equipped and furnished to a high standard (everything we required was provided). It was so easy to buy fresh bread and rolls for breakfast on a daily basis. We found Ceret to be a fascinating town with a strong Catalan presence. The bustling Saturday market is a must with lots of local produce on sale. We loved to take coffee outside one of the hotels and just people watch.

There are numerous enjoyable walks from the apartment, but with the use of a car we were able to explore further and took the Yellow Train from Villefranche-de-Conflent up into the pyrenees. We were also close enough to spend time on the beach at Argeles as well as driving to Figuera to the Salvador Dali museum. There is still much to see and we will definitely be returning again.
