La Forge sits in a quiet corner of the square of Roquecor, a medieval hilltop village. It is a beautifully renovated 18th century Blacksmiths with spectacular views across the valley and once guests are inside the property there is a wonderful feeling of seclusion and privacy, which is unusual in a village house. The gardens have different eating areas so that guests can enjoy the sunshine or shade, and there are plenty of places to sit and relax and look across the valley and enjoy the local countryside. Roquecor is an attractive village and has a bar/restaurant, village store with fresh bread/croissants, craft shop and a Sunday morning market. All of which are within a few minutes walking distance. No children under the age of 16 accepted. Nearest main town: Agen and Villeneuve-sur-Lot - 25 minutes.

Between these two are major towns including: Fumel: Named after Françoise de Fumel, once captain of the kings guard and Catherine de'Medici's ambassador to Constantinople, it has a good range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and a cinema. Villeneuve-sur-Lot: A powerful bastide on the banks of the Lot river. Founded in 1264 it has preserved a large quantity of small streets and half-timbered buildings. Close by is a superb 18 hole golf course. Roquecor: A sleepy laid back hilltop village with an excellent bar/restaurant and Sunday morning market.

Notes: The front door opens into a hallway with an open-plan area with sink to the right. This area overlooks the garden and the village square and can be used as an artist’s studio or as an office with broadband connection. To the left is a WC with basin and a cupboard with the washing machine. The hallway opens out into the large open-plan lounge and kitchen. The spacious lounge has a large stone fireplace and still has many original features, including a wine press and the blacksmith’s forge. There is access from the lounge directly to the garden and to the courtyard swimming pool. The cherry-wood kitchen is very well equipped, including a 5-hob electric cooker/oven, 2 fridge-freezers and dishwasher. The courtyard swimming pool offers guests complete privacy and is partially set beneath an old vaulted stone archway. The mature, private garden provides panoramic views, perfect for dining, sun-bathing, relaxing and painting.
