Cala d'Or Area holiday house: Cala D'or

Loved it, loved it loved it! I cannot tell you how many times I have been disappointed in the past with rental property, even as far away as New Zealand! Inside the casa was not overlarge but perfect for a family of six and I can't think of a single downside except that the entrance hall was a bit dark but hey who holidays in the entrance hall anyway. Kitchen was modern and tidy plus very clean and it was easy to cook there. Lounge was also great so light and airy and looking out over the grounds which felt a bit like a large garden. Pool was good also, oh and very clean as were the bathrooms. What else? Oh yeah the town was small but pefectly formed with more coffee shops and restaurants than you'd imagine for it's size. Hubby loved the one in the centre called C'an Trompe and in particular the fillet steaks they served. Also the cafe opposite on the other side with over sized whicker chairs was also great but don't remember the name.

At the marina we liked to eat at Aquarius - good for fish or Blanc Y Negra great for pizza. We tend to kind of stick to what we know so didn't try many others but they all looked nice and the marina was setting was gorgeous like being on a movie set really.

The kids couldn't get enough of the beaches which were small and friendly in and out the water. We did fancy taking the glass bottomed boat trip from the beach but never got round to it so we're thinking about next time. We didn't do that many day trips as we like to poodle about in the car however we did notice that a company called roig do trips all over the island by coach so we thought we might try them next time. However we did go on the dinky little train that runs around the resorts and took a trip to neighbouring Porto Petro a small fishing village. Loved the restaurant known as Rafaels and had lemon chicken an sweet and sour chicken best ever, which amazed us until we found out the owners wife was chinese.

So overall great really, the casa lived up to its name and we appreciated someone being on site in case of a problem. We only got a broken light bulb but the young man who greeted us on arrival came and replaced it within the hour.

Looking at the property details again - we visited last October- can't think of anything that wasn't accurately described.

Oh and there was a supermarket nearby called Eroski - walking distance. They sell biscuits which the kids call Aniseed puffs and they are to die for.
