Magical Collioure

Where to start?! Collioure is magical and is made even more so by this lovely house which never feels like sterile holiday accommodation, much more like a clean, well maintained ,warm, comfortable, welcoming home. We came by car from Limousin, and were given such a warm, friendly welcome by Margaret and her friends Audrey and Les, all of whom helped to carry our luggage from the car! The house is situated in an ideal spot, within easy walking distance of everything. My husband and I are what could only be described as elderly! ( 71 and 66) but we feel young at heart and loved our walks round the Chateau Royal, exploring the whole village, around each corner a more beautiful view and and loved the paintings, galleries ( only problem being curbing the urge to buy something in each!) and just sitting on the wall listening to the guitarist .We liked the fact that not only are there plenty of good restaurants to choose from, but several shops offering great food to take back home and eat - paella, pissaladiere ( onion and anchovy tart) and of course anchovies and olives to nibble with a glass of wine. We also took the opportunity, while down in that part of the world, to pop over the border to Barcelona - easily done in just over 2 hours. Oh! we would love to come back! and may well do so, and would definitely recommend the house.
