Away from it all in Normandy

Having travelled all over France and stayed in many hotels we decided to have a change and stay in a Gite. Thus begins a beautiful affair with the Normandy region. The Gite at Le Croix Rompue is everything it promised to be in the very accurate description given and we would have no hesitation in recommending this property. A lovely clean gite in beautiful grounds and countryside, away from it all and for this reason you do require a car. The property is well equipped and maintained and has everything you require for a relaxing holiday together with a log fire should the evening turn cool. There is a large garden area with BBQ area, should you want to sit outside in summer and relax or play in the garden with your children. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area with Barneville-Carteret and Port Bail nearby, both with interesting places to look around and with wide open beaches to stretch your legs or peace and quiet should you want a little solitude. Also not too far away for a visit are the Normandy Beaches, famous for the D-Day landings of World War II. The area is well known for its Cider and Calvados which is made locally, also not too far away is a biscuit factory where you can also have a look around at the biscuits being made and purchase some if you wish and there is a nice Cafe where you can sit and have a coffee together with, of course, a biscuit. There are plenty of reasonabley priced places to eat all serving extremely good food and always pleased to try and help with the menu should your french not be too good. Darrell and Sue are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them, they are always willing to assist should any little problem arise. They have a good knowledge of the area and are willing to share this with you to make your holiday one of the best you'll ever have and will make you want to come back to the area to find out more. Darrell will happily ring to reserve a table for you at one of the restaurants if required. Digger and Bertie (the Family pet dogs) are both great characters and very friendly, there is also a Pygmie goat, a sheep and several rabbits to feed and watch. Having been once to this beautiful area, maybe like us it will make you want to return again and again to see and find out more about this beautiful area of France.
