boxing day 2011 to Jan 2012
Review Submitted: January 10, 2012
Date of Stay: December 2011
This apartment is a great place to stay, well equipped and spacious enough for a group of 4 - 6 comfortably. Excellent value for money especially compared with other hotels or apartments in this area! less than a 3 minute walk to the ski bubble and no hills or stairs to climb to get there!
In the evening the apartment has TV and an Ipod dock and plenty of games if you want a night in. The kitchen is great for a quick snack of full 3 course meal and the dishwasher makes life easy for all!
Beds are comfy, duvets are amazing, apartment is warm and relaxing.
The shops are also within a 3 minute walk for everything you need from ski hire, groceries or fresh bread etc.
The block the apartment is situated in has a ski locker and also a garage which is a real plus when the snow dumps down! although we personally left our equipment in the lockers at the top of the bubble meaning we didn't have to carry them about after the end of the day (or go home to change before having a quick drink!).
The Champagny area is an amazing place to ski, although the night life is somewhat quiet yet friendly with only a couple bars in walking distance in the evening but there is a great choice of restaurants. I've been to Champagny before and knew this already so wasn't disappointed!, Courcheval and Bozel are only a short drive away if you want to try different restaurants or increase the night life capability.
The Ski domain for Champagny is on the La Plagne ski pass giving you both sides of the mountain and since the sun sets on the Champagny side you can extend your day by skiing down a little later!. If you want a greater domain you can get a Paradiski pass which covers the whole of les arcs and La Plagne also that from the champagny side les arcs is a fair distance. Intermediate skiers (fast on reds blues etc) can make it in a couple hours (the glacier there with the ICE cave is well worth the trip!) I still havent explored the whole of the La plagne side in 2 trips and the Discovery pass also allows for 1 day ski in Courcheval! my advice... if its your first time in Champagny then stick to the la plagne ski pass or get a discovery with 1 day over at les arcs
All the pistes are above 2000m so snow is usually good and available late into the season. Some Blue runs are harder/ steeper/ narrower than the red runs so don't limit yourself by the colours. The runs down into the village are fun and nice way to end the day
Great place to stay, great place to skI!
Owner's Response: Dear Nigel,
Thank you so much for your review.
We are really glad you enjoyed the stay. You may be amused to know that you christened the brand new kitchen that was completed 4 days before your arrival.
Thank you too for the feedback about the chairs - we will have them changed before the next group arrive later this month.
Best wishes,
Claire
