Laid back accomodation in Naxos
Review Submitted: October 6, 2009
Date of Stay: September 2009
This was a very pleasant place to stay, quiet, comfortable and with a beautiful view over the town and the sea from both of the balconies. The outside space was extremely relaxing in the evenings and offered a peaceful place to eat and watch the sun go down.
The property was reasonable spacious with good facilities (dishwasher, washing machine etc.) to make our stay with our young children as easy as possible.
Some words of advice: the property is at the top of a modest hill. So, while we didn't have too much trouble with our children and pushchair, this isn't a property for people with mobility problems. I'd also note that parking at the top of the hill is not good. We were also troubled by mosquitoes – so do bring a net to sleep under especially if you're visiting in September.
As to customer service; we were greeted at the port by a very friendly taxi driver, but that was it until the agent arrived a week later to take the outstanding balance of our rental fee. So, not a problem for people like us that like to be left alone on holiday, but could be off putting for less experienced travellers.
The village itself offered a hybrid Greek/Caribbean feel with bars and restaurants right down on the beach itself. I've heard it's quite lively in July and August, but when we saw it in September it was still engaging, though not too busy. Additionally, you could walk along the beach to the two nearby resorts which offered contrasting but still enjoyable facilities.
To conclude, I will and have recommended it to friends and family and intend to return myself – both to the village and to the property. We all had a great time.
