The Schonblick Glacier, the valley and Rauris itself make an ideal holiday destination no matter what time of year you decide to take your breaks.
Here in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park in Saltzburg, Rauris offers a world of choice to adventure sport lovers: skiing, off-piste skiing, ice and rock climbing, paragliding, rafting, mountaineering and nearly 50km of well-kept piste for cross-country skiers.
Fancy the Nordic ski trails? They begin within the resort boundaries. Looking for the ever-expanding Rauris ski area? The gondola stations are less than 100m away. And looming large in the valley are two of Austria's most impressive glaciers, irresistible for ski touring.
And a couple of minutes stroll brings you to Rauris itself, Austria's original ski resort, where traffic-free centre packed with shops, bars and restaurants awaits.
Ski:
There are 11 snow runs in Rauris, the lowest lift is 950m raising to 2211m with many lifts and cable cars.
Within a 40 minute drive, some of Europe's best skiing awaits:
Zell am See, Kaprun and Bad Gastein are all only 15 mins drive away and Kitzbuhel, saalbach, St Johann as little as 40 mins.
Golf:
15 minutes drive away or 40 euros in a taxi are the two 18-hole championship golf courses at Zell am See. They afford spectacular views of the Kitzsteinhorn.
