A top quality modern spacious apartment, luxuriously appointed and with aircon in every room, in delightful unspoiled Cabanas village. There is an excellent new communal swimming pool situated just behind the property, approx size 4.5 x 12 metres. The pool is surrounded by well-kept gardens and paved areas and is seldom very busy. This property is approx 250 metres from the coast, where small shops, outdoor cafés and little bars line the waterfront, and is only a 3 minutes walk to the village centre (VERY MUCH NEARER THE SEA & VILLAGE THAN MANY OTHER PROPERTIES OFFERED FOR RENTAL IN AND AROUND CABANAS). The beaches and coastline in this area form part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a National Heritage site. Wonderful Cabanas beach and the other nearby beaches are all huge, sandy, clean and unspoiled - amongst the best in Europe and all with Blue Flag status. The location is perfect for those wishing to be based close to all amenities but in an unspoiled and peaceful location.

A modern first-floor apartment, luxuriously appointed, with 2 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, lounge/dining room, kitchen with all equipment, west facing balcony (lovely for sunbathing) with table & chairs and a retractable sun blind - use to keep cooler on hot summer days! All windows have metal blinds for security and coolness. The apartment has ceiling fans and is fully air conditioned (for heating in winter as well as cooling in summer). There are insect screens at all windows. There is plenty of parking space in bays in front of the apartment building.The apartment is very near an abundance of good quality reasonably priced restaurants. There's a friendly bar/café just down the road which is hugely popular with both local people and holiday makers, and a quality restaurant next to the bar. Nearby there are 2 play areas for young children. The village has one medium-sized supermarket and plenty of mini-markets; also a selection of other shops including a chemist.

A holiday in Cabanas village is perfect for those who wish to sample the 'real' Algarve but with the more desirable aspects of a holiday area - a wide choice of quality inexpensive restaurants offering typical Portuguese food, daily market selling local produce, small shops tucked away along the narrow streets, and several top quality golf courses nearby. It's a small friendly village, still a traditional Algarvian community and an active fishing area. Central to Cabanas is an amazing natural lagoon where you can take a short trip in a small boat (about 2 minutes, €1.20 return) to what is probably the most beautiful and unspoiled beach in the Algarve - massive, sandy, clean, non-commercial and never overcrowded, where the golden sand shelves gently into the water - warmest sea in Portugal! The beach has showers/wc facilities, loungers & parasols to hire, and 2 small cafes. Many other superb beaches are nearby. Cabanas is 4km from Tavira town, easily reached by bus, train or car.

  • PAYMENT DETAILS:

    Payment may be in £/Sterling if required. For bookings made more than 8 weeks before arrival a 30% deposit is required to secure the reservation, with balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival the full rental amount is payable immediately to secure the reservation. The rental charge for part week is pro-rata the weekly rate.

    All prices include bathroom & kitchen towels and bed linen.

    Please note: if payments are not made promptly your booking may be liable to cancellation.

    From 1 May to 31 October, if clients chose to use the air conditioning there is an extra charge of 3 Euros per day - you do not have to decide whether you require the aircon until you arrive. The aircon, to use for heating if required, is included in the rental price for other months.

    We do not ask clients to pay a breakage/security deposit.

    The 'Minimum Stay' periods shown on the rental rates chart may be negotiable.
  • CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event of cancellation the 30% deposit is non-refundable. Of the 70% balance, we will reimburse as much as we have been able to recoup with any replacement booking.
    We always advise clients to take out their own holiday insurance policy.
  • LONG-TERM WINTER LETS: are offered for periods of 4 weeks minimum, 1 November 2009 - 31 March 2010, for a rental cost of 130 Euros per week. This price excludes the cost of electricity and gas used - meter readings are taken on clients' arrival and departure and the cost of units used is payable locally.

    This apartment is perfect for winter holidays as well as summer, as there is heating in every room (including both bathrooms), the windows are all double-glazed, and we provide warm duvets and extra bedding for the beds for chilly winter nights.

Notes: The kitchen is extremely well equipped, with kettle, coffee maker, toaster, extractor fan over the hob, tea towels, all the crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking equipment you could need! The apartment has an iron & ironing board, hair dryer, security safe for clients' use free-of-charge, selection of books and videos, comprehensive information folder. The lounge/dining room has 2 comfortable sofas, coffee table, sideboard, modern dining table/chairs, ceiling fan as well as aircon. The balcony overlooks the little old houses of the village, mostly occupied by local fishermen. We do NOT ask clients to pay a breakage deposit. We meet our clients in person on their arrival at the apartment and are on hand throughout their stay. We have been providing holiday accommodation for 5 years with much praise from our clients, and are confident we know what people require for a successful and happy holiday. We keep our standards very high, but the prices are as low as we can manage!

MISCELLANEOUS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Internet: Facilities are available at several places in the village. Cash points: There are several cash points throughout the village. Cleaning: The apartment is cleaned to a high standard prior to clients' arrival and after departure. Safety: The apartment has smoke alarms, fire extinguisher, fire blanket. Beach/pool towels: We ask clients not to take bathroom towels out of the apartment; beach/pool towels are available for hire from us upon request, price 2 Euros per towel per stay. Smoking: We ask clients not to smoke inside the property; an ash tray is provided for use outside on the balcony. Arrival & departure: Access on arrival day generally by 4.00pm, and check-out on departure day generally by 11.00am; but these times are flexible whenever our other clients' booking times permit. Luggage storage is available upon request.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS & TRANSPORT ROUND THE AREA: We can arrange your airport transfers with a local cab firm at discounted prices. We can organise your car hire with a local company, to collect on your arrival at Faro Airport at no extra charge or for just part of your holiday delivered to your apartment (we have no financial interest in either of these companies, but they are always used by our friends and family with 100% satisfaction!) Bicycle hire is available in the village. Trains go to other parts of the Algarve or further into Portugal - nearest station 0.8km approx from apartment. Local buses go to other parts of the Algarve; buses from Tavira bus station travel further afield including to Seville and other parts of Spain. Private boat trips can be organised completely tailor-made to suit your wishes and very good value for money - eg fishing, bird watching in the Ria Formosa, exploring the coast, etc.

LOCAL PLACES OF INTEREST: Tavira town is approx 4km away and can be reached by bus, train (1 stop) - or walking for the more energetic! This beautiful & elegant historic town cannot be missed. It has avoided the excesses of development and lost none of its grace. The maze of cobbled small streets are a delight to explore. Tavira beach (12km long) is as unspoiled and enchanting as Cabanas beach, with the addition of several high quality restaurants; it has just been named as one of the Top 10 beaches IN THE WORLD by 'The Lonely Planet'. There are many other beautiful beaches along this stretch of coast, either mainland or island - all huge, clean and sandy, and never overcrowded even in high summer. The beautiful peaceful hills and villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are only a few km north, with stunning views and a way of life practically unchanged for hundreds of years. The Spanish border is approx 25km east, where the border castles, little lanes and old unspoiled villages are well worth exploring

Wonderful Cabanas apartment

Spent a week at this lovely apartment at the beginning of July. Sue and John were there to meet us and explain everything we needed to know. The apartment was not only excellently equipped but immaculate and there was some good reading material and videos. There is also digital TV with loads of channels just in case of bad weather. John very kindly came out and sorted the digital tv out when my husband inadvertently messed it up by fiddling with the remote! It is only a very short walk to the sea front with a wide choice of restaurants and shops that stay open until very late. The apartment was in a very quiet location and we had the use of the swimming pool to ourselves on most days. We found ourselves well placed to visit lots of local attractions and the hidden pool with waterfall was a perfect way to spend the day if you pack up a picnic (there was even a cool pack in the freezer but you wil need your own cool bag) The beds were extremely comfortable and the ensuite lovely with a decent shower. The air conditioning was very welcome and certainly made sleeping easier. There was a booklet explaining everything in the apartment and if you follow these instructions you will find everything simple to use. The apartment is good for those with a disability so long as it is not a mobility disabilty. We took a adult with a learning disability and she loved it. I do not have one single negative comment to make about the apartment and the price was absolutley amazing for the height of the season. I am sure we will return in the near future. Many thanks to Sue and John for the use of their excellent apartment.

Excellent apartment in a very convenient location. Great service by owners and taxi company.
Cabanas will suit people who want a quiet holiday - don't bring teenagers - there's very little for them to do.
Check oiut Alfredos for his Piri piri prawns and clam dishes.
Pedros has excellent steak.
Avoid the catapalana - too messy and not worth the effort in any restaurant - local fish is always good.
A day trip by ferry from castro Marim to Spain is excellent - try the tapas restaurants near the marina.
Very safe environment and lovely people, both local and tourist.
