THE TOWN :
Penna San Giovanni is a short walk away along a pathway through the grounds of the house. In the village you will find two grocery stores providing all the essentials, a bakery for fresh bread and cakes, a butchers, a pharmacy and a newsagent/tobacconists where the owner, Umberto who speaks fluent English, will be delighted to meet you and help with your enquiries about the local area. There are two bars in the village one of which has a restaurant and pizzeria where the owner, Paulo, makes the best pizza for miles around. Both serve delicious Italian ice-cream. Piane di Fallerone is 15 minutes away and has two large supermarkets.
THE SURROUNDING AREA:
The Marches is a wonderful region in central Italy and it is not only by chance that it is otherwise known as 'Italy in one region', where miles and miles of beaches and mountains exist together in perfect harmony, where one can still take in an atmosphere of dense tradition and culture and where it is possible to experience the most unique tastes in the world.
Ideally situated with the Sibillini mountains on one side and the Adriatic sea on the other one has the best of both worlds, skiing during the winter months, the beach and mountain lakes during the summer and the breathtaking countryside in between. Cultural treasures abound, hidden in the medieval hilltop towns, a maze of narrow streets, wide piazzas, high stone walls and majestic towers. Le Marche's picturesque villages are full of ancient Churches, Abbeys and Monasteries, all beautifully preserved over the years.
