Casa Apuana is a light, airy and comfortable family home. It is one of the most private of a small number of properties in an attractive, secure, gated restoration of old vineyard buildings (Borgo le Vigne). There is parking and a delightful, good sized, pool with extensive views. The large downstairs room has a sitting and dining area and a modern fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom. The double has fantastic views, the twin has views over the back garden to distant mountains, both have full length windows. The peaceful garden on 3 sides of the house allows the choice of sun or shade at any time of day. The property is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves and the views over the Apuan Alps are breathtaking.

Just 30 km from PISA airport, Casa Apuana is 5 minutes away by car or 20 minutes walk from MONTECARLO, a charming medieval village, with fortress, churches, local shops, bank and a wide choice of restaurants. There is a friendly local 'alimentare' / local store 5 minutes walk from the property and 2 excellent supermarkets 15 minutes drive away. The area around MONTECARLO is famous for wine and in the undulating countryside there are numerous vineyards to visit for 'degustazione' and the purchase of wine and olive oil, the nearest is just across the road.

Notes: Casa Apuana is suitable for families or couples of all ages. The house is very well equipped for self-catering and has a washing machine, an iron, an ironing board , a hairdrier and a TV. There is plenty of seating to relax in the private garden or around the lovely pool, both with loungers and chairs. Please note that parents should ensure safety of their own children around the pool which is generally open mid-May to mid-October.

DETAILS OF THE AREA: Casa Apuana is an excellent base for visiting all the major Tuscan sites FLORENCE (1h on the train) SIENA and SAN GIMIGNANO (1.5h), VIAREGGIO and the coast (40 minutes). There are also numerous delightful and less well known places nearby. LUCCA is a walled medieval city, the birthplace of Puccini, with pleasant pedestrianised streets ,cafes, restaurants, shops and music. The Puccini opera festival held in July / August in TORRE DI LAGO is 40 minutes away. At VINCI it is possible to visit the house where Leonardo da Vinci was born and the nearby museum has a fascinating exhibition of his works. The whole area is wonderful for walking. Notable are the high plateau above PRATO , the mountains and gorges of the GARFAGNANA and ABETONE in the Apennine mountains. The CINQUE TERRE is easily accessible for a day trip.
