'Tavira Garden' is a family-friendly holiday rental complex on the N125 main road which connects Faro via Tavira to Villa Real do Santo Antonio on the Spanish border. It is ~10 to 15 mins walk to the Roman bridge in the centre of the old town and is easy to find. The Tavira exit from the A22 motorway leads directly to the N125 close to where Tavira Garden is located. We can arrange a taxi from Faro airport (~30 minutes) at a cost of ~€40 for four. Tavira Garden was developed over an approx 10 year period from the early '90’s by a group of Swedish investors. The complex sits on a low hill in Tavira. The architecture is an expressionist rendition of the medieval Moorish style. The lush, mature gardens boast an impressive array of palm, carob, olive, magnolia, bougainvillea trees, shrubs, flowers. The main pool is 25mx10m, the second 15mx6m (each with kids pool). There is also gym, tennis, bar, restaurant, kids play area, etc. A large supermarket is 300m away. Car hire on site.

This is a large 2-bed, 2-bath duplex holiday rental apartment with own front door direct from the gardens close to one of the pools of this family-friendly complex. Covered area 120sqm/1300sqft, entire floor area tiled. Balcony off living room gets morning sun, ideal for breakfast. Off the entrance lobby are dining room and kitchen. From the lobby, steps lead down to the living room and up to the bedrooms. Lounge and each bedroom are individually air-conditioned; other than the kitchen, all windows are fitted with “blackout curtains”. Bedlinen and towels changed, apartment cleaned, each 6-8 days; towels changed again each 3-4 days. Access area is pedestrianised with ample safe parking. The complex grounds and the common areas are well lit at night. While both the complex and the town of Tavira are relatively safe/secure areas, a wall safe is provided. Tavira Garden is located 10 to 15 min walk from the Roman bridge in the old town. This is a luxurious, family-friendly holiday rental complex with lush, mature gardens and 2 swimming pools (each with kids pool), tennis, gym, bar/restaurant, etc. The many miles of white strands of Ilha da Tavira, among the finest in the Algarve, are within easy reach and the town council arranges a comprehensive program of events and entertainments throughout the season. WiFi Internet is available on site. Each apt has full or partial air-con and is equipped to accommodate 4 to 6 guests. Pricing is based on 4 guests; discounts 20% for party of two Sept to June (one child max 12 may accompany); a small charge is made for a fifth or sixth guest at any time. Seven golf courses lie within 5 to 25 min while Tavira itself is well positioned as a base from which to explore the many delights of the Algarve. Access is via Faro airport, a 30 minute taxi ride away; Seville (100 miles) is another option.

  • Prices in Euro or US$ on request. Rates are based on a party of four; fifth or sixth guest may be accommodated at any time at a cost of GB£40,-- or €45,-- per week to include cot, camp bed, sofa bed as applicable. From Sept to June, discount of 20% is allowed for a party of two (max one child aged 12 or less may accompany).
    Discount 5% applies on weekly rate for rentals of 14 days or more, 7,5% for 21 days or more.
    Payment can be by bank transfer in GBP or Euro (UK and Irish cheques also accepted) or by PayPal in US$.
  • Rates include air-con, TV, access to all complex facilities. However, there may be some small charges for use of gym, tennis court,.
    Final cleaning on departure charged extra at GB £40,-- or €45,-- on all rentals.
    A small pet may be allowed on request but enquire first -- charged extra at GB £40,-- or €45,--.
    A service charge of GB £13, -- or €15, -- applies for arrivals after 20h00 if paid with reservation (or, if applicable, pay €20 when collecting keys). Local time, unlike Spain, is same as UK + Ireland.
  • A non-refundable booking deposit of 25% (minimum GB£130 or €150,--) is required. If rental starts within 5 to 8 weeks of booking date, deposit rises to 50%. If rental starts within four weeks of booking date, payment in full is required with reservation. The balance is due eight weeks before booking start date; this is partially refundable if cancellation occurs more than two weeks before start date. We strongly advise renters to take out holiday insurance.

Notes: The sofa-bed is actually in the dining room. There is a self-service launderette on site where you can rent a drier for Euro 5,00 (2009) for three hours. WiFi Internet access and full air con included in price. The on-site gym has sauna, jacuzzi and a comprehensive range of fitness equipment (and a personal trainer). There are two adult pools (one is 25m length), each with adjacent kids pool; during the season, a Caribbean-style poolside bar adds a buzz to the main pool area. Loungers, umbrellas, etc, are provided in both pool areas (no charge). There are also two kids play areas, tennis, boules, communal BBQ/picnic areas on site. A major supermarket is approx 300m down the road from the complex. Car hire, excursions, etc can be booked on site. Towels provided in apt but bring your own pool/beach towels.

Golf: Quinta da Cima (once rated the N° 1 course in Portugal by the prestigious Peugeot Guide), Quinta da Ria, Benamor are within five to ten minutes drive of Tavira Garden. Castro Marim, Monte Rei, Quinta do Vale and Maragota (Pitch & Putt) are ca 15 to 25 mins. The well known courses of the Western Algarve and the Spanish courses of Islantilla and Isla da Canela are mostly within one hour's drive. While Benamor may be rated as an 'easy' course by many, it has magnificent ocean views and offers an excellent lunch.

Ria Formosa Nature Park: This wonderful resource, with its astonishing variety of birds, animals and butterflies, surrounds Tavira. You can wander around, rent a bicycle, rent a horse, go birdwatching, collect butterflies, whatever you like.

Guadiana Valley: The Guadiana Valley on the Spanish border is approx 30 mins drive from Tavira. There are several interesting old walled towns along this valley; they are a relic of the medieval border disputes between Spain and Portugal. Particularly interesting are Castro Marim, Alcoutim and Mertola. It is also possible to take a boat trip up the Guadiana River to view and visit the walled towns in a most enjoyable manner; boats leave from both Villa Real do Sto Antonio and Ayamonte and stop for lunch en route.
