The property has remained in the same family for generations and the paintings, antiques, photographs, and collection of five thousand books tell of an illustrious past, yet there is an informal atmosphere that puts visitors at ease. Despite facilities and furnishings that have been classified as five star by trusted travel sites, it is still run as a much loved home where owners and staff alike take pride in giving guests every possible attention. The house and grounds are available for rental on an exclusive use basis sleeping parties of up to fourteen. The house is surrounded by Somerset hills, and is at the heart of one of England's finest tourist locations. It is conveniently situated off the M5 motorway, but is totally secluded and in an award-winning village. It makes an excellent base from which to explore places like Glastonbury, Longleat, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves, the historic town of Bath with its Roman baths and newly refurbished spa, the Quantocks and Mendips, the bustling city of Bristol and even the seaside and coast. Activities can be arranged including carriage driving, hot air ballooning, archery falconry, owl and badger watching. There is a visiting beauty therapist providing a variety of treatments that can be booked through the hosts or direct with the therapist.

Notes: There is a children's play area and a range of games including croquet set, badminton, pool, Monopoly and Scrabble. Set in 22 acres, Polden Park has beautiful gardens. More time has been spent restoring and maintaining the grounds than can be justified in purely commercial terms. Here you will find some very special trees nurtured by your hosts – look out for the only known specimen in the UK of a rare type of oriental elm, some very fine limes and a wide range of fruit trees. The grounds include a Tilting Yard, main lawns, an orchard, a “ha ha” (a pond separating the main lawns from the orchard), a paddock/field, a walled garden currently under restoration, a games field for football and other outdoor games, a barbecue area, a kitchen garden undergoing restoration, and various ponds teaming with life including the endangered golden crested newts.
