Tranquil Location off the Beaten Track

Review Submitted: October 23, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011
Stuart and Maya were friendly and communicative even before we set out on our drive from Southern England to Challand-Saint-Victor. Stuart's directions were spot-on, and we found the apartment without a problem. Stuart was on hand to meet us and show us around, and during our stay, he and Maya were always available for help, advice and directions, yet not in the least intrusive. The apartment was exactly as described, immaculately clean and well-presented. All fixtures and fittings worked and the apartment was fitted out with everything that could reasonably be required. Best of all, the apartment features two balconies with different aspects and absolutely stunning views from each. The village is quiet and rural, but good local shops are within easy walking distance, and we found all that we needed for our one-week holiday without needing to drive very far. Stuart and Maya gave us details of a few restaurants in the vicinity, and we found the food to be good and the staff hospitable. Although we mainly stayed in the local area, walking every day, we did visit the market in Verres, just a few kilometres down in the valley, and further up the valley is the Roman town of Aosta, the regional capital and not to be missed. The area is Alpine in character, with breathtaking views everywhere and the remains of a unique agricultural lifestyle once typical of this autonomous region (formerly a part of Savoy). Up in the hills, the roads can be steep and narrow in places, but there is relatively little traffic around, and we found other road users to be careful and patient. Overall, during our time in the area, we found nothing to dislike, and would thoroughly recommend this apartment (and its owners) to active tourists seeking a tranquil break off the beaten track.

A very nice stay

Review Submitted: October 18, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We had a very nice stay in the apartment in Challand-Saint-Victor.
The apartment is spacious and has a lot of privacy. Within walking distance you can buy the necessary things, for example fresh bread in the morning.
The apartment is clean and the price is alright.
After our beautiful walks in the surrounding it was nice to stay with a drink on our sunny balcony.
Stuart and Maya are very helpfull and you can get all the information you need to have a nice stay.

Perfect Location

Review Submitted: September 6, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
We stayed at Stuart & Maya's apartment for two weeks in late July and early August 2010. It proved to be an ideal base and we felt that two weeks was not long enough! We had intended spending time in the Grand Paradiso National Park but found the Ayas Valley had lots more to offer, it was varied, attractive and the people were very welcoming.
Stuart recommended a number of walks and they did not disappoint. There are enough walking opportunities to last a complete season for both the casual walker and the experienced hiker. There are also numerous sites of historic interest to visit.
We enjoyed the company of Sturat & Maya, you could not wish to meet a nicer couple.

Fabulous apartment with character.

Review Submitted: March 17, 2010 Date of Stay: February 2010
We spent a week in February 2010 at Stuart and Maya's beautiful apartment and will be back in 2011. In that week we visited 3 ski resorts including Champaluc and Cervinia. There is a fabulous little village shop about 300 meters from the property that sells a superb range of fresh food including fresh bread, hams, cheese and has a good selection of wines.
The apartment offers two balconies and great views across the valley to the mountains and the wood burning fire is welcome in the evenings. The kitchen has all you could want including a huge cooker and fridge.
The property has electric gates and parking on the drive when it is not too snowy.
Stuart and Maya were wonderful hosts who went to great lengths to ensure our stay was memorable and enjoyable and Maya even cooked us a hot fruit flan to take up to our apartment one evening!
The apartment was immaculate and adorned throughout with Maya's beautiful paintings.
The property is about 50 minutes to Turin Airport and 20 minures to Champoluc Ski resort.
Although this is one bedroom at the moment we were told that a second room is being added that would make it ideal for families.
Many thanks, Peter.
