About the Area::
Javea Old Town retains many elements of its Medieval past including narrow winding streets, and the 15th century church of San Bartholomew in Plaza de la Iglesia. Also of interest is the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum. The Port is a working Port providing fresh fish to the area. Also the Port offers a wide variety of shops, cafe/bars and exquisite restaurants, many of these are located along the shore-line, providing the most beautiful romantic setting overlooking the sea. The Arenal Beach, is a large sandy beach, which is cleaned every evening making it a beautiful view to be seen early next morning. It also has a play area and large climbing frame for the children. The esplanade facing the beach has many cafe/bars and restaurants and shops. In the evening time there are market stalls selling jewellery, handicrafts and gifts. There are musicians playing and also artists sketching portraits late into the evening.
Leisure Activities::
During the summer, the Tourist Office offers free guided walks of the area in English and Spanish. Pleasure boats sail between Cabo San Antonio and Denia up to three times a day. The Centro Hipico at Javea provide accompanied horse rides and also offer horse riding lessons. Benidorm offers lots of activities for children. Mundomar Marine Park, Aqualandia Water Park and Terra Mitica 'Historic' Theme Park. El Verger Safari Park is 20 minutes north (near Denia). There are also a number of go-karting tracks in the area. The beautiful city of Valencia offers the 'Oceanografic' (spectacular aquarium) that forms part of the City of Arts and Sciences. Many Historic buildings of superb architecture and the popular Central Market.
Golfing Information::
Javea Golf Club is a 10 minute drive from the villa and is situated between Moraira and Javea. The course which is open all year round, is a 9 hole course, par 72 and consists of 3,035 metres and is relatively flat. The Olazabal course at La Sella is a 15 minute drive inland near the village of Jesus Pobre. The course has 18 holes, par 72, and is 6,029 metres. This course although flat, has many trees ansd water obstacles but presents a very good challenge. Within a half hour drive of Oliva is the Oliva Golf Club, designed by Seve Ballesteros. This testing course has 18 holes , is par 72, and 7,051 metres. Near Benidorm there are the two Real de Faula Championship courses (long and short courses) which are also highly recommended.
