A Victorian turreted country house built on a grand scale with stunning views across Scottish Border countryside, yet conveniently situated within an hour of Edinburgh. This impressive red sandstone mansion with neo-Gothic features was once the family home of the nineteenth century British Liberal Party Statesman and Prime Minister William Gladstone. It is set in ten acres of attractive grounds and the interior combines classic country house with contemporary style. The house offers the opulence one would expect from a stately home whilst retaining a relaxed, comfortable feel. The house was formerly a luxury country house hotel, so its facilities are exceptional and provide the highest level of comfort including piping hot water round the clock. The House stands half a mile from a pretty village typical of the region, with a range of curiosity shops and attractions.
