This charming three bedroom cottage in the much sought after village of Parracombe, only a short drive from Lynton and Lynmouth, is a paradise for walkers and families alike. On the ground floor Rockleigh has a cosy living room at the front of the property and a kitchen at the rear that overlooks the little walled patio garden. The living room features a woodburning stove within a stone inglenook fireplace, and two comfortable sofas. A pine Welsh dresser, natural wood units and wooden bench style worktops complement the slate tiled floor in the well equipped kitchen/dining area which is served by an oiled fired Rayburn and a large pine dining table. Stairs lead from the kitchen up to three bedrooms and a modern family bathroom. The attractive master bedroom has an ensuite shower room. The twin room has dual aspect, with views over the village and surrounding countryside. The final room is a good size single with room for the travel cot if required.

Rockleigh is in the heart of the delightful and picturesque village of Parracombe and close to the Hunters Inn Valley. Parracombe has the award winning Fox and Goose Pub, which has an excellent reputation for locally produced food and a well stocked village shop that can supply your daily requirements with local fare and your morning papers. Wistlandpound Reservoir is close by , an angler's paradise, amidst woodland it is perfect for a picnic in this peaceful unspoilt countryside. Also near is Exmoor Zoological Park, the NT property Arlington Court and the Lorna Doone Valley. The closest beach is Lee Bay, or drive a little further and spend all day on beautiful sandy beaches surfing, swimming or just building sandcastles on either Croyde, Woolacombe or Saunton Sands (most of which are dog-friendly in parts). Enjoy the wooded rugged coastline of Exmoor which boast the highest cliffs in England or the spectacular scenery from Dunkery Beacon with wild red deer and Exmoor ponies.

We came here with teenage/adult children and found it a great place to stay.
A relaxing cottage with good facilities and a good base for exploring the area. We went for walks, hired bikes and went surfing then returned to the log fire and good meals cooked on the range cooker.
The owner was very accomodating and efficient

Beautifully maintained cottage perfect Exmoor base

This is a lovely cottage, deceptively larger inside than it looks and it provided perfect accomodation for a family of four, though would easily accomodate five also. Location is perfect for making day trips to Exmoor and North Devon coast, we used it as a base for a short walking holiday and the immediate area provides hugely diverse opportunities in terms of moorland, river valleys, deserted beaches etc.

A word of praise for the pub in the village too (The Fox and Goose) - we received a very friendly welcome and the food (and cider!) was excellent - one of our family has a number of food intolerances that the staff were able to cater flexibly for without any fuss or difficulty.

Overall, thoroughly recommended for a family break, despite our stay being during the school holidays (and coinciding with some excellent weather!) it was surprising how remote and "away from it all" parts of North Devon still feel.
