The villa is newly built, clean, stylish and beautifully decorated. It is in a small development built on a hillside overlooking Fodele Bay and has stunning views of the sea and sandy beach below. The view of the mountains all around isn't bad either! It is a pleasant 15 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) down to the unspoilt, sandy beach, which, further around the headland, offers sailing and water-skiing activities as well, as beach-side tavernas. The villa is built over 3 floors and has 3 bedrooms, a shower room, bathroom, well-equipped kitchen/dining room and a spacious lounge. It has 2 large outside terraces, perfect for eating al-fresco and a gated parking area, large garden and private swimming pool. It is an easy and direct 25 minute drive from Heraklion airport/port and is a good base for exploring all that Crete has to offer. Alternatively you can just chill out by the pool, laze in the large hammock or relax in the lounge chairs on the terraces The choice is yours.

The villa is close to the pretty village of Fodele where you will find plenty of tavernas and restaurants serving locally grown, tasty food. Fodele is famous as the birthplace of El Greco and his house is now run as a museum. There are also riverside walks and nature trails. Fodele is centrally located on the north coast of Crete (the largest of the Greek islands) so is the perfect base for exploring this amazing island, whether it be the ancient Minoan Palace at Knossos, the vibrant port city of Heraklion with all its shops, markets and restaurants, the endless beaches, the mountainous interior with it's alpine meadows and windy roads (some would say hair-raising!), Samaria Gorge, the beautiful seaside town of Bali or the delightful Venetian ports of Chania and Rethymnon. Although Fodele is on the main bus route from Heraklion to Chania, a car is recommended for access to the villa - the drive up to the villa is a bit steep but you just have to put your foot down and go for it!

  • A non-refundable 20% deposit is required when the booking is confirmed and full payment is required 6 weeks prior to your stay. The prices quoted are inclusive of electricity, cleaning, provision of freshly laundered bedding and towels, heating (if applicable) and the use of the private swimming pool.

    Prices quoted are in Pounds Sterling.

    We accept bank wire transfers and Sterling cheques drawn on a UK bank account.

    We can also accept payment in Euros into our Greek bank account - please ask for further details.

    Although we have quoted a minimum 1 week stay, that is flexible, as this property is new on the rental market. Please enquire for further details. We have further photographs of the villa and surrounding views that we can send to you via email.
  • Traveling to Fodele :

    Easyjet and Jet2 now operate direct flights from the UK to Heraklion during the summer months (April - October). Easyjet fly from Manchester as well as London Gatwick and the flight time is approx 4 hours. There are other charter airlines that operate a similar service. You can also fly via Athens with Olympia Airlines & Aegean Airlines.

    There is an overnight ferry service from Pireaus to Heraklion. Traveling via Athens gives you the perfect opportunity to extend your holiday there and take in the delights of ancient Athens. You could also travel via some of the Greek islands on the way i.e. Santorini.
  • Important notes:

    The swimming pool is one depth throughout and is quite deep, which makes it unsuitable for small children and non-swimmers.

    Unfortunately there is some building work currently going on close by. The developer is building some more houses further down the hillside. I am not sure when they will be completed. Generally speaking though, the disruption is minimal and the builders are surprisingly quiet. Please contact me if you would like further information on this. The rental price for the villa does reflect this.

  • Bathroom 1 is on the lower floor. It has a shower, is fully tiled, with wc, sink, radiator, shaving point and mirror. Bathroom 2 is on the upper floor and has a bath with shower attachment, is fully-tiled, with sink, wc, mirror and round window giving views of the mountains. There is also an outside shower on the terrace by the garden if you are feeling brave!

  • Bedroom 1 is on the lower floor. This is considered the master bedroom as it is the coolest in summer. It has a shower room next to it. It has a double bed, fitted wardrobes and shelves, a large chest of drawers, 2 bedside cabinets, bedside lamps, radiator, power points and a window overlooking a small garden area. Bedroom 2 is on the upper floor. It has a bathroom on the same floor. It has a double bed, fitted wardrobes and shelves, bedside cabinets, lamps, window overlooking the sea and sliding patio doors leading out on a large terrace (with table, chairs, loungers & parasol) that overlooks the sea and mountains. Bedroom 3 is on the ground floor. It has a day bed that can be used as a sofa during the day or a single or double bed at night, with storage underneath. It has large floor to ceiling sliding patio doors overlooking the mountains. There is a travel cot to sleep 1 baby/child

Notes: All the rooms are tastefully decorated and all the furniture and equipment throughout the house is new. The kitchen is fully fitted and well stocked with pots, pans etc. There is a large fridge with freezer, kettle, microwave, toaster, hob, oven/grill and also a dining table & 6 chairs. The lounge has comfortable sofas, a coffee table, radio/stereo & CD player and sliding patio doors at either end. There is a large outdoor terrace, accessed from both the kitchen and the lounge, with wonderful sea views and a large table and 4 comfortable lounge chairs. The villa is tiled throughout and has marble staircases. There is a washing machine, clothes airier, iron and ironing board. There is a large hammock and parasol in the garden and children paddling pool (+ foot pump) in the storage room. All the windows and doors are fitted with fly-screens (and shutters) to keep the bugs out but allow air into the villa. There are stand-alone fans. The rooms are of a good size & have high ceilings

We spent two weeks here and loved it! The house is stylish, clean and well-equipped. The views are stunning and has advantage of having two lovely sun terraces to take in the stunning scenery.

There is a pathway from the villa leading down to the beach where there are some little tavernas on the edge of the sea. The beach was clean and our 3 year old loved splashing in the sea among the rock pools.

Fodele village is a short drive away and has good restaurants and very friendly locals.

A car is essential if you want to explore further or sample the resorts along the coast. All have sandy beaches and lots of restaurants and shops. Along with sun shades and sun beds.

Crete is a beautiful island and this is great place to explore the island.
