Kintyre is an idyllic holiday destination with some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Scotland. With crystal clear waters, sandy beaches and loads of wildlife, we usually have the best of the Scottish weather too courtesy of the Gulf Stream warming our climate! There is lots to see and do should you so desire, alternatively simply absorb the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful location and do absolutely nothing!!! The courtyard at Drumnamucklach offers ten brand new gorgeous mews cottages of varying sizes, which sleep 2-6+ people. Originally, old farm buildings, each cottage now provides superb modern facilities, yet with a bright, cosy and welcoming atmosphere. With 4,000 acres of rolling hills, burns, woodland, lochs and tropical gardens to explore, and the most amazing views of the ocean and islands beyond, this really is a fantastic location, perfect for a romantic get-away, relaxing summer break or a family adventure holiday.

Perfect for those with walking difficulties or very small children, Rosemary cottage is set over one level and is easily accessed throughout by wheel-chair (or buggy!) Furnished with Mexican-look pine furniture and complemented by a contemporary brown and red décor, this lovely cottage has a warm and cosy feel and has easterly views over farmland to the rear, with southerly views towards Ireland to the side from the lounge. Recently renovated, Rosemary offers fabulous two bedroom-ed accommodation with all the modern conveniences that a brand new cottage provides. The bathroom and kitchen facilities are contemporary in design and provide everything you would need - we even supply complimentary coffee, tea, sugar, milk and biscuits for you so that when you arrive, you can just simply plop down, put the kettle on and absorb your wonderful surroundings. Kintyre is an idyllic holiday destination offering spectacular coastal scenery with lots of opportunity for out-doors activities. There is lots to see and do with 5 golf courses (including the world renowned Machrihanish course with the first hole regarded by many as the best in the world), horse-riding, walking, fishing and surfing all readily available, as well as plenty of sight-seeing opportunities. The area is probably most famous for Paul MacCartney's song -the long and winding road' as Kintyre is what inspired him and he still owns a home here. Killean Estate is located on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula, in a rural sea-front location yet with easy access to the many amenities of Tarbert and Campbeltown. The village of Tayinloan is just one mile up the road and there are several good restaurants within a short drive. The island of Gigha is just over a mile off-shore and well worthy of a day trip and other islands are also within easy reach.

With wheelchair in Rosmary Cottage

We (2 adults, 1 child) stayed in Rosemary Cottage for 5 days and had a wonderful time. The cottage was new but very nicely decorated and fully equipped with everything needed. It might be useful for some to know that it was possible to stay there as a wheelchair user: level entrance, all rooms on one floor, sufficient door width for most manual wheelchairs (70cm+). The bathroom had just enough space to maneouver and a bath tub (which is possible to transfer into with sufficient upper body strength. The two downsides were the loose gravel in the driveway, which is difficult to roll through, but then again, the distance is very short; and the fact that Rosemary cottage is located away from the magnificent views of the cottage courtyard, which can be enjoyed from most other cottages there (but which are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible).
Overall a great stay in a very nice cottage in a breathtakingly beautiful area.
