Dornoch is a historic Cathedral town overlooking the Dornoch Firth. Perfect centre for exploring the northern highlands, it has an excellent Tourist Office to help you with information. Local golf courses include Royal Dornoch and Struie. A short drive away are Tain, Golspie and Brora (a Braid course).
Activities for non golfers include coastal, forest and mountain walks, bird and wildlife watching at Loch Fleet Nature reserve (5 miles), sea, river and loch fishing, Tennis courts, squash courts and bowls, whiskey distilleries, artists' studios throughout the region, Highland games in the summer, Dubrobin Castle (10 miles) tours and events, recitals at Dornoch Cathedral, indoor swimming pools at Embo (3 miles) and Golspie (8 miles). Good local bus services. Dornoch also has a grass airstrip available for light aircraft.
