Photos and Description of this Alessandria holiday house A self-catering holiday house in the Monferrato hills for 2-4 people.

A small restored two-bedroomed stone house with garden and sun terrace at the end of a quiet country lane. Recently renovated but keeping the traditional features of Piemontese vaulted ceilings, wooden beams over the windows and the former brick stove (for decorative purposes only) in the kitchen. The metre thick walls keep the house cool in summer but the large, double-glazed windows overlooking the wooded valley let the light stream in. There are 2 spacious double bedrooms on the first floor (one of which has a commanding view over the valley), while on the ground floor, there is a living room, kitchen, store room and shower room. There is parking available for one car. The Roman spa town of Acqui Terme is 10kms away whilst the airports of Milan, Turin and Genoa are easily accessible; as is the Italian Riviera. The world-famous wine villages of Barbaresco and Barolo are 40 minutes drive away and there are thousands of vineyards in the DOC areas of Acqui, Asti, Gavi and Loazzolo

The property lies 10kms from the Roman spa town of Acqui Terme and 300m above sea level in rolling hills. The nearby hilltop village of Castelletto d'Erro lies 600m above sea level and on a clear day has a panoramic view of the Alps and Appennines. This particular area of Piedmont is noted for its peach orchards, strawberry fields, vineyards and more recently, due to its unpolluted location, the growing of aromatic herbs and lavender. The house is in a beautiful and tranquil location within easy reach of many town and cities of interest such as Acqui, Asti, Alba, Ovada, Genoa, Turin and Milan. The Ligurian coast is easily accessible for the beaches. Hill and mountain walking can be undertaken in the nearby Parco del Beigua whilst for golfers, some of the best courses are in Piedmont. This area is famous for its excellent cuisine, its truffles, DOC goat cheeses and its wines with many cantine and vineyards offering a chance to taste and purchase the wines at excellent rates.

Acqui Terme: Acqui Terme has natural hot thermal springs so many people come for health reasons to visit the health and fitness centres. A bustling market takes place twice a week throughout the year. The large, open air swimming pool is open to the public for the summer months.

Piedmont Food and Wine: Piedmont provides many restaurants offering traditional recipes using fresh, local ingredients. Many excellent wines are available to taste, to enjoy with meals or to savour at leisure.

Local Flora and Fauna: Due to its unpolluted and rural area, wildlife abounds. Migratory and native birds can easily be seen; larger mammals leave their tracks whilst lizards are plentiful. For most of Spring and Summer, there are many butterflies, moths and insects on the wild flowers and in Spring, a number of wild orchids grow in the undisturbed fields around the property.
