The Little Barn is charming, comfortable and welcoming and is a perfect retreat for a couple or small family wanting to get away from it all and experience true French living. Many original features make this barn full of character and life. In the summer it is lovely to have the french doors open and allow the sunshine in, and in the winter the log fire is all you need to make the barn a cosy inviting place to be. The little barn has been meticulously thought out and has everything you could possibly need for a true french country break. On the ground floor there is a kitchenette with all major appliances as well as a lounge/dining area with UK satellite TV. Upstairs there is a spacious bedroom with super king size bed and Shower room with W/C. There is a small garden behind the barn with swings and a BBQ as well as outdoor furniture and toys and a selection of bikes to use at your leisure. The little barn has been tastefully renovated into stylish property maintaining many original features such as oak beams and pointed Stone wall. The barn comprises of an open plan ground floor with a kitchenette with all necessary appliances, lounge area which focuses around a charming log burning stove. we also have a dining area with a solid dining table and 4 chairs and high chair. Upstairs is a W/C shower room with basin and heated towel rail. The upstairs bedroom is open plan with a luxurious super kingsize bed. We can provide a travel cot or childs single bed if desired. The bedroom has an opening window with views over the Burgundian countryside as well as velux window in the roof for star gazing at night. To the rear of the barn, there is a small private garden with childs swing and BBQ area with furniture. A selection of sun loungers, childrens toys and also bike are available for use at your leisure. The little barn also has UK Satelite TV and DVD players with DVD's.

This rural area is about 10 minutes drive from the thermal spa town of Bourbon Lancy, where spa treatments may be booked. Then why not treat yourself to a meal at one of the many restaurants in the area. There are several markets in the region, and one of the best is at Marcigny. For those interested in history Autun is a MUST. Take a trip on the Road Train & see Napoleon's school; the church, Roman amphitheatre and the Military Academy. Take a drive out to the vineyards to have a wine tasting day. Swim or fish in one of the many lakes or rivers nearby, There are attractions for all ages; Le Pal theme park with zoo animals and roller coasters/rides etc, Acro Givry - an action packed assault course with zip wires and ropes walks up to 25m high in the tree tops, mini version for children aged 3-6yrs as well. Diverti park- find your way through the mazes and play giant versions of classic games. Cycling & walking- there are many beautiful areas to explore.Too much for one visit.

A unique place to stay!

We have travelled all over France, and we have rented other properties in France and elsewhere, so we have a lot of experience. We wanted to stay somewhere in an area we hadn't visited, and the Little Barn's location was perfect! Penny and Nigel were perfect hosts, and we enjoyed sitting outside one evening, sharing a bottle of wine and talking about their life in France and our experiences in Europe. The Little Barn is perfect for a couple or small family. You can enjoy the utter peace and quiet, the clean air, and the very lovely countryside. Having such an idyllic place to "come home to" each late afternoon after sightseeing was wonderful! Bourbon-Lancy, which has one of the prettiest streets in France, is very close, and we spent a lot of time just enjoying this beautiful part of France. Nigel and Penny provide lots of information on activities and things to see, so there's never a dull moment! There are convenient markets for shopping, which was important to us. Also, before we arrived at the Little Barn, we had been travelling for two weeks, so having the washer was really a plus! Since we like to shop at the markets and then cook our own dinners, we enjoyed having a wonderful kitchen. If you would prefer to have restaurant meals, we saw lots of places to eat out. We rented the Little Barn in September, and having the wood stove was wonderful when the evenings got a bit chilly. All in all, we would recommend this property highly!
