Set in a small Aude village, in the heart of Cathar country between Carcassonne (20 mins) and Toulouse (40 mins) this comfortable, tastefully decorated terraced village house has many attractive features, including original beams and wooden or terracota tiled flooring. French doors from the large kitchen/diner lead onto a flagstone patio shaded in the summer by Trompette vine and jasmine, the patio steps lead to a mature and private walled garden which is bordered with wild flowers and shrubs. At the bottom of the garden is a large teak table seating six, which sits beneath a canopy of wisteria. The Village has a grocery store, excellent boulangerie and bar/café amongst its amenities.

The house is in a small Aude village well located for exploring this wonderful region. The Canal du midi is a 5 minute drive away for walks, cycling or boat hire. In 5 mins you can be in Castelnaudary, 20 mins in Carcassonne and 40 Mins in Toulouse. The Mediteranean beaches of Narbonne and Gruissan can be reached in under an hour. Also nearby are numerous Cathar sites and Rennes le Chateau for site seeing. We can recommend many local vineyards for Winetasting.

Well Situated, Well equiped, and very clean.
we booked this house so that i could visit the Cathar region for reasearch for my PHD. the house is quaint, everything we needed was there. it is situated in the midle of all of the cathar sights which i found advantageous.
i will surley book this again and would urge others to do the same, as long as it does not clash with when i want to book hehehe

Excellent clean, well-maintained French townhouse in historic village, very comfortable and tastefully appointed. There's a convenience store across the street and the all-important boulangerie is 20 yards away. There's loads to do and places to see (Carcassonne, Toulouse, Canal du Midi, Montagne Noir, vineyards etc.) You'll need a car. A welcome pack is provided - food and wine - in the event you arrive too late for shops or restaurant. Recommended.

A great home from home

We were excited to find this property here as we had one of the best holidays there last summer (2008). We're real foodies so we were delighted with the well stocked kitchen complete everything from oysters knives to an amazing pepper grinder. We had our pick of local markets to get fresh food and daily ate our meals at the end of the beautiful garden in the shade. The house itself is comfortable, homely and tastefully furnished. There were only two of us but it could have comfortably slept four or 5.

It's set in a sleepy village but it's perfectly placed to explore the region. You would definitely need to bring or hire a car to make the most of being there.

The considerate owners had left an extensive guide to the local area, which soon became our bible during our stay as the recommendations were often spot on.

We hope to return soon.
